I just wrote to someone who was asking about etiquette for on-line dating.... Here are my thoughts on the subject, including some hilarious examples I've received.

Make the assumption that women aren't looking just for a hot night of action. Even if they are they may not want to admit it and like things to be couched in getting to know you kind of stuff. This doesn't work:
"So I would like to wash your back And what would you like to wash. I am 49 and well hung Get back to me."
"hi i m 25 male fit and active
i can do what u need and probably u will ask me again
and again
i m working here for few weeks and then i will go back
to nanaimo
i m free everyday after 2 pm , u can call and arrange

The second is also a good example of the second no no...

Really bad spelling and grammar. It's called spell check people, included on most computer programs... for free!

Too much information.... Like fishing putting out a bite is good but the whole plate of all your baggage and life story is not needed, especially when the returns are often low for men.

Don't send too many emails or get far too excited too soon. You have no idea who this person is really. Don't invest too much in something completely unknown. Women get scared off by far too much attention. They like to imagine you have more going on than eating cheetos in front of the computer screen surfing porn and waiting for them to email you back. There is a delicate balance between being available and interested and becoming a stalker.
