the bus
This week I've been investigating the bus a bit.... Went over to visit some friends that are a very up and down bike ride away by bus/taxi home. The route in my neighborhood is so calm. University students contemplating their loans and a chicken souvlaki downtown and little old ladies with powdered faces off to chat up the teller at the bank and visit the yarn store. Tonight the other bus from downtown was filled with an entirely different kettle of fish, including a man on crutches shouting at the bus driver. A McDonald's munching woman of many tatoos was happy to hear the details of the beating that resulted in the crutches.
I turned up my techno. And contemplated social work.
My favourite part was the wide variety of people who thanked the bus driver when they exited. Many many people shouting out thanks and the bus driver smiling and nodding in the mirror.
