new and so excited!

just to note: i'm new here and currently live in northern kentucky (2 minutes from cincinnati). my boyfriend and i are going to be attending the university of louisville starting in august. me for interior architecture and him for finance.

i just received the phone call from the leasing agent at "royal arms apartments" saying we were approved for the one bedroom we were praying to get. the layout is great and only 10 minutes from school. we will only be paying $449 a month with heat, a/c, gas, water, sewer, and trash all paid. we only pay electric and bills such as internet.... we have 650 square feet of space... which is the biggest we've found for this incredible price. and to top it all off, they are redoing the major road our apartment is right off of, bardstown road, if anyone is familiar with louisville, kentucky. brand new target, walmart, and mall... with tons of thrift stores and restaurants a minute away, no joke. i just wanted to share with someone. we've already bought all of our furniture and most of our appliances and such... but i have no idea how to decorate. i have so many ideas but i just don't even know... but we can't paint the wall so if any of you have any alternatives.

hopefully the neighborhood is as nice at it seems and the neighbors are decent. the only complaint i had was that that hallways had this weird smell to them. i got used to it after a few minutes, but yuck. it's so nasty at first. any idea of what it could be or the heads up if most apartments are like that?

look under the cut for the floorplan and pictures of the furniture we have.

THIS IS OUR COUCH AND CHAIR (WE ALSO HAVE A HUGE OTTOMAN), BUT INSTEAD OURS IS A BRIGHT BUT DARK RED... CRANBERRY LIKE.

WE ONLY HAVE THE COFFEE TABLE. NO ROOM FOR TWO MORE END TABLES.

SO INSTEAD WE BOUGHT TWO OF THESE LAMPS TO PUT IN THE LIVING ROOM.

HERE IS OUR BED SET (WITHOUT THE UGLY PAISLEY PRINT SHEETS. WE JUST BOUGHT BRIGHT WHITE SHEETS)

by the way, my boyfriend is bringing his year-old bedroom furniture which is a darker pine with slightly noticeable gold accents (like a slither of gold between two wooden slithers for the dresser handles, if that makes sense)... but i hate the headboard.. it's one of those huge (tall) ones with mirrors and two sliding shelf doors... he insists that we are not painting it so any ideas on how to make the room still look nice with that bed set... would it be okay to use silver accents since the gold is barely noticeable?

sorry for such a long posts. congrats if you read it all... and super congrats if you comment.
