Corpus Christi, Texas

Howdy! My name is Candy and this is my first place! I've lived here for a 13 months now and will be moving in 5 months (to a whole new state/part of the country.) Currently living in Corpus Christi, Texas, with my love and his younger brother. you can see the Mexican influence in our decor. My style is a frugal mix of 70s retro, Mexican influence and curiosities.

I've been going back and forth on posting this because it isn't as pulled together as most of yall's gorgeous places, but I've had several requests during saucysaloons and opensauce, I figured I'd go for it. My main issue is arranging things. I'm open to feedback on this!! It is a small space and the plugs are in certain places and a lot of things had to be in certain places for the sake of bunny proofing! It still isn't 'finished' but since we decided to move in 5 months, it is as finished as it will ever be, I think.

A little more intro: We are all broke college students (well, I JUST graduated in May) so most of our stuff is thrifted, craigs listed or gifted. Trying to make things work on a budget and a sense of non permanence.

A view of the whole living room. It is pretty small. Sorry about the stool in the way. I was using it as a tripod and then totally forgot to move it.

A picture of my love's parents and one of my paintings. Also a mobile I made from ski-ball light bulbs I took from an old abandoned arcade.

Another one of my paintings above the tv and a bottle of sand from White Sands, NM. We love to travel in the desert.

If you turn directly around, you see the dining room, bar and kitchen. This is seriously the ONLY practicle place to put my bike since I ride it almost every day. So annoying!

The Bar and into the kitchen. Note the official "State of Texas" Clock.

What it looks like minus the bike. Bookshelf made from salvaged dumpster dove 'wood' and cinder blocks.

Wall leading into the kitchen. A painting by me. Actually, it is a poor excuse of a master copy of one of my favorite painters, Alex Kanevsky. He is BRILLIANT. Another one of my paintings on the other side of the kitchen and on the ledge (hopefully one day I can get rid of these? and have other people's art!) Our kitchen is smaller than our hallway. :(

Details

Dining Room Wall with a print by the amazing David D'Andrea. (There is also one in the living room by him.) Some teabags and some photos of favorite places in Texas.

Something my grandmother made and you can see here how the bunny cages take up the entire dining room wall. Bittersweet.

Detail Shots!

Holy Terror is the book I am currently reading. A very good book to read along side Popism and the Warhol diaries!

I adore my sad pig piggy bank. He's from mexico and even though he is full of change, he is still sad. :(

One of my lithographs, an udu drum I made, A cross stitch I did for my <3, and a beautiful handmade book by Mozart.

A photo from the outside, for fun.

I hope ya'll like it! If you are snoopy like me, you can head over to my flickr and see all the notes I put on a bunch of the photos there. Details on certain items and such!
