Sorry the photo quality isn't the greatest. It's a naturally dark room so running around playing with lighting with a broken foot & wrist and an 8 month pregnant belly wasn't easy.
Wall 1 - The Darling Nursery
Murals Your Way was awesome to work with for our window view of old London.
Don't mind my cat who seems to think this is her bed
Or my dog who has to be included in everything
Reading/Rocking/Feeding Nook (I have a mushroom stool over in the Fairyland Forest area for my feet)
Awesome mobile hand made by
chasingthenuns. Her work is amazing, check out her
Etsy shop.
Transitioning over to Wall 2 - The Flight Wall
Again pay no attention to my cat, she has entitlement issues
Roughly 70% of the characters were put up via a projector. The rest my husband did free hand. I painted the back layers and first coats of characters then he'd come in behind me for shading. It helps to procreate with someone artistic if you have an elaborate idea in your head.
Transitioning in to wall 3. Don't fall asleep when your husband has a jar of glitter in his hands. It took me forever to clean up Tinkerbell's pixie dust.
Wall 3 - Neverland
I crammed as many characters in to one scene as possible. When our son is born we'll put SS whatever his name is on the boat.
Because every little boy's room needs pirates. We never got a pirate ship in there. I wanted a crystal pirate chandelier from Z Gallerie but the kid needs diapers first.
Wall 4 - Fairyland Forest
I like Disney if it wasn't obvious. We tried to sneak in a character from all the classics. Except the dog movies, they didn't really fit.
The tree is portable so it can be nabbed for Halloween decor and removed during toddler destructive phase.
I was just going to paint a tree in the corner but my husband decided to build one. He used a construction tube then cut up stryofoam and then layered Plaster of Paris over that. It's pretty sturdy, I didn't think it would be able to take a beating originally. The knot hole is rigged with a light.
Here's my cool footstool.
Oops, pretend we remembered to paint the owls eyeballs in. There's still some touch up work here and there.
The room before was just a plain old room with white walls and carpet that was coming close to 30 years old (that's cork flooring in there now).
And since the flow of the room doesn't show so well in photos, a video of the room if you're interested (kind of dark).
