New Studio

I can't believe we've actually finished this space. One down, and many more to go, but it feels great.
All images click through to larger versions and many have notes.

I was terrified at the thought of tackling this room. We couldn't walk into it for months.

After we made much headway, we installed the fan and lights. Both were purchased at Lowe's. We have the lights on a dimmer, which I really love.

It took me a while to finalize the layout of the space because I originally wanted the bookshelves against the wall. I'm happy with the direction I took because they can be back-up cutting tables for larger projects!

Since I just finished, I haven't thought of what to write on the chalkboard!

Those plastic containers/holders are recycled Crystal Light containers. They're perfect for holding the small stuff, keeping my workspaces a little tidier...I hope. The top portion in the right photo is painted MDF. We bought a top at IKEA but it was too small. I totally thought all the pieces from that 'line' went together. So much for paying attention. Michael is the benefactor of the other top.

Computer table and some of my fabric bins. I keep the rest of it in the closet, which are blissfully large.

That kick-ass chair came from our very own gypsymarie. The computer table is an old sewing table that was in bad shape, veneer wise. We stripped as much of the veneer as we could and pulled off the top. We spray painted it satin black and then added a new MDF top.

I have an 'in progress' montage at http://www.flickr.com/photos/le_chat_noir/4861071562/in/set-72157624434814940/.

For the cats. They're slowly beginning to hang out here and St. Francis keeps catnip for them. The green thing is an old sewing box that was turned into a kaleidoscope for us as wedding gift. It has a light inside and it's damn awesome when it's plugged in.

Some detail photos. Much of the artwork was done by friends.

One day we'll pull up the carpeting and put down wood floors.

Thanks for looking!
