hi everyone!
i'm lauren, i am 24 years old and i reside in nashville, tennessee. my apartment was built in 1912 and i've been here for a little over 3 years. my landlord is a-ok with painting and fixing up - the apartment was actually painted when i moved in - and i've spent my time here slowing revamping and making over various rooms. this past weekend, i concentrated on the foyer and hallway.
this was done on a fairly small budget - all under $60, and it would have been cheaper if i had used cheaper paint (but, ew, i hate cheap paint!). in addition to simply painting the rooms, i also painted the furniture and designed and cut out the stencil on the walls. everything in the room was thrifted or passed down.
i'll start with a before shot. these are the colors the apartment was initially painted when i moved in - i liked them all right, i guess, but the red made the hallway feel like a cave and i was getting tired of the goldenrod whatever.
view upon walking in the front door. the orange room to the right is the bedroom, and the gray room to the left is the hallway.
i know the mirror is crooked, but the screws can't be removed from the wall because they're painted over and i can't be arsed to figure out a way to straighten it.
to the right (from the front door) is the bathroom.
if the chandelier looks familiar, it's because i copied the blik stencil/sticker chandelier! the difference is, i painted mine directly on the wall.
to the right of the bathroom - leads to the sewing room. i stenciled all these walls by hand - it's NOT wallpaper. stenciling didn't really take that long, either. maybe a little over an hour.
this is the wall opposite from the bookshelf, you can see the front door to the right.
i know sergeant deputy piggy isn't really that saucy (nor is the tiki lamp on the table), but we all have to make sacrifices sometimes.
gray hallway. the paintings were all done by my great-grandmother in the 60s. i painted all the frames black.
in the hallway is a coat closet; you can see the front door at the end.
if anyone wants to see close-ups of anything, let me know. i was trying to pare down the pictures as much as possible. also, constructive critism is always appreciated - just please be nice :) i know my photography "skills" leave a bit to be desired.
