I recently found myself needing to downsize from a bedroom and library/office to a single room. My sister and her fiancee encountered some financial hardship when he was laid off just as she discovered she was pregnant halfway through planning and paying for an expensive wedding. So, I invited them to move into the house I was renting with another roommate to help them save money. It was an interesting experience trying to re-organize my belongings into one small room. The enclosed photos are the best of 4 sets that I took of the room in different states of lighting. Photobucket really does them no justice, but I'm happy with how it turned out.
Less closet space means more creative storage solutions for my favorite accessories!
My dresser and chest of drawers belonged to my grandmother. They are ca. 1925-1935 deco styled mahogany and my favorite pieces of furniture.
Here's what my office/library room turned into after the move. It's a nice cozy area to compute and read, and the cats love hanging out in the window while I blog.
Here's where I lay down my head, on what my best friend and I call one of the 5 truly acceptable pieces of bedroom furniture at Ikea. I love and adore this bed.
A detail of the corner next to my bed. I fell in love at first sight with this lamp.
The photos in the diagonal frames are all taken by me. The poster is a copy of a poster produced by the UK Ministry of Information in 1939. I love the message more than the design.
I love this picture because it really brings out the tones and detail in the wood of the dresser.
A cute shot of my floor rugs.
The infamous "S" wall. All of these were either gifts or hand crafted and painted by myself, my family and friends. I love the splashes of different colors that it adds to my space.
Well, that's that! I hope you enjoyed the tour! I've gotten a lot of inspiration from this community and used much of it when I had to re-design!
