I loveloveloved my place as soon as I found it, but finding the perfect curtains to fit ooooold 12' tall windows was really difficult, especially because everything I could find that was even close was a nice shade of beige, cream, or tan. I decided to make my own curtains, and found this awesome discontinued P. Kaufmann fabric from the Jo-Mar warehouse in Philly (if you've never been, please do check it out!) I later found that this brand of fabric can typically run anywhere form $15-$20 a yard, and was able to get mine at $4 a yard... what a steal considering I needed 7 yards! too much talking, here are a few photos:
I may eventually make straps with the leftover fabric, but these cords worked in a pinch. Also from Jo-Mar for about $1 each.
Pattern detail. the pink is much warmer irl (this photo is backlit), closer to the first photo
the ginormous windows
Improvements: I relocated and started a job in a hurry, so the hardware for the treatments was a little half-assed... I did sew the top hem with ample room for thicker rods when I get the chance. I never thought of myself as someone with a taste for PINK curtains, but when I saw the fabric I knew I had to have it.
