Darnlucky's House

Reposted with more rooms & all in the same thread, per lovely moderator. Some spaces have more sauce than others in my house, especially since the kid arrived a few years ago. Plenty of sauce stored in the attic for later!

that room with all the doll things scares the shit out of me. otherwise, I love the candle table you have set up, and it looks like a great piece of furniture. your kitchen is amazing, I love the all white with the little bursts of color.

The dolls are puppets from China and Indonesia. My office is the World's Smallest Puppet Museum. Say hello to my little friends.

I got a Vietnamese water puppet when I was in Hanoi, and my brother gave me a shadow puppet from Bali. Now I want to have a million of them. I know how you feel!

VIETNAMESE WATER PUPPETRYYY. GAHHH. ohmyrhiannon December 24 2008, 21:16:42 UTC
I took a class called "Muppet Magic." There was a series of lectures in which we watched Vietnamese water puppetry movies, dubbed in Japanese. It drove everyone insane. To this day, if you say "twoness," "Kleist," "Craig," or "Vietnamese water puppetry," to anyone who took that class, someone might projectile vomit. Or start banging their head against a wall. Or any hard surface really.

BAHAHA! Oh that's horrible. You know, I do agree. If I had to work at that waterpuppet theater, watching the same performance several times a day, day-in, day-out, I might shoot myself. But also, I think goes for anything else of a similar, touristy nature.

But I just love how they are painted.

I'm serious. The class was supposed to be about friggin' muppets. Not some eighteenth century bastards yadda yaddaing about "the uber-marionette" or those damn Vietnamese with their water puppets! Gah!

But they can be pretty. So it's all good.

I was going to ask if they were puppets. I'm equally freaked out and utterly fascinated. They are gorgeous and creepy, which I must admit is exactly the kind of thing I love.

I love puppets and that is an amazing collection but it would creep me out to have them all staring at me like that. Your place is so beautiful, gorgeous colors and lighting.
