Saucy Baby Shower

Last weekend my house was changed over from normal house to saucy and girly high tea baby shower.
Setting was a high tea, and we tried to make the thing as "garden-esque" as we could, which meant changing around the setup of the back patio area and the dining room.
Whole project was heavily DIY'd and presented interesting challenges considering I was only on day 4 of recovery from foot surgery. (Thank God for minions to do your bidding!)

Dining room area before, table shrunk down to it's normal size:

First of all, you have to start with the flower arrangements. Day prior to the event, Mom and I took an early trip to the LA Flower Market to pick up some flowers. Morning of the shower was us standing around in our bathrobes trying to figure out how to make the flowers look pretty.

These were our two smaller table centerpieces which was red ginger with green and sunset roses. The boxes were with plastic bags and wrapped in hot pink silk that matched our linens.

This was our main table centerpiece made from the roses above plus hot pink roses in place of the red ginger and curly willow tips.

This is what I did with the left-overs. I then threw it in the living room to kind of tie the three rooms together

We ended up renting tables and chairs. But Mom and I sewed the linens ourselves. We used hot pink silk to create a long floor length table cloth. The same fabric was used to create napkins, and was wrapped around the boxes used for centerpieces. We then also sewed a chocolate overlay to go on top. I seriously LOVE the fashion district in LA. Pink fabric that was 45" wide was $2 per yard. Chocolate fabric that had hand stitching and hand beading already done on it 60" wide was $7.50 per yard. I'm going back there to make curtains when my foot heals.

Our main centerpiece outside was a wrought iron tree that I already owned. The little pyramid things are actually dessert teas like "Belgium Mint" , "Coco Truffle" and "Vanilla Orchid"that are attached to the tree like little leaves.

Favors were little tea pots that stacked on top of individual cup and saucers. There was also custom tea bags for guests to take home, along with little tea bag caddies that were stuffed into hot pink and green felt bags.

Our table we expanded to maximum capacity. I LOVE how are leaves are actually stored inside the table.
I felt everything was very colorful and included home made scones with clotted cream and jams, tons of tea selection, home made fruit tarts, mini key lime pies, mini quishes and crazy rainbow cakes.

End result for the table under the patio

Originally the plan was to leave the furniture where it was and set up the tables in the yard surrounded by market umbrellas. But, the way that the sun was, we felt it best to move the furniture to the yard, and surround it with the umbrellas.

My favorite touch to the umbrellas was taking baby clothing and hanging it around the edges. The LA Fashion District is AMAZING. We got so many outfits for so cheap (7$ for top, bottom & hat)... I couldn't.. stop... too many cute clothing. In and amongst the normal clothing were a bunch of white onsies. We had fabric markers at the tables under the umbrellas and encouraged guests to take a white onsie down to decorate for the guest of honor.

I'd say everything went really well. Everyone loved the setup. Food was good. DIY'd invites were a hit. Lilas (guest of honor) loved the crib blanket I sewed together for her. House is finally back to normal.
DIY invites if you are curious. Hubby did the graphics, I did the paper stuff.
