Dear Crossovering Author-
Listen, I am thrilled to be participating in this for the third year in a row. Every year is a blast and I’m even more excited to read whatever you write. If you want to stalk me, I'm Diaphenia on AO3 and on tumblr.
For such a broad exchange, I’m not going to put a huge amount of restrictions so feel free to go a little wild. I’d ask that you avoid these three things: kids (obviously canon children are fine, but background them), kink (I’m sort of weird and picky, so I’d rather not even go there) or major OCs (not my bag).
All my suggestions are just that: suggestions. Feel free to mix and match. If you think two of the fandoms I picked, but didn’t offer suggestions for, would be better suited, use them! If the prompts I’m throwing out there don’t excite you, use something else! Make it tropy, throw the characters in Hogwarts or Panem or a myth or a fairy tale, send everyone to high school or in space. AUs are great. Strict crossovers are great, but so are fusions. Make it a narrow focus on two characters or send everyone to a party. Handwave whatever you need to. I tend to ship canon couples, but mix and match between fandoms for love or humor. Gen is just as great at shippy fic.
Riverdale/Game of Thrones
God, this could go so many fun directions. Send the GoT people to Riverdale High, confused that things are just as cutthroat without swords. Send the Riverdale kids to King’s Landing and watch the confusion. Let Cheryl get lessons in batshittery from Cersei. Let Kevin try to wheedle gossip from Brienne. Hire the Pussycats to play the Red Wedding. Admire Veronica as she tries to give Sansa a normal teen experience. Let Jaime try to teen Reggie how to be a better person.
No teen/adult sex, ok?
Special note: I haven’t read the books (or more than a handful of the comics) so feel free to include your own inside jokes for lovers of the paper versions, but know they will fly right over my head.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt/GLOW (2017)
Amazing crossover possibilities. Feel free to work in whichever era you want, keeping everyone around the same age in 2017 or 1985, or have the GLOW ladies reunite thirty years later. Maybe Kimmy is making a documentary on the series decades later? Maybe Titus watches the reruns and thinks it’s a current show? Maybe Lillian wrestled back in the day. Maybe Sam casts a kidnapping victim and Debbie is super jealous someone else is getting attention. Maybe Cherry is teaching Titus stunts. Maybe Titus is trying to replace Bash as announcer.
The Good Place/You’re The Worst
Existential dread is at the heart of both of these, so have fun! I love the idea of the YTW gang in the afterlife. Likewise, whatever reason you have to throw TGP people into the orbit of the YRQ people works for me. Maybe everyone is alive for some reason. Maybe some people are dead. It’s fun. Maybe Eleanor died at Sam’s concert, or Tahani is earning good person points on earth as Lindsay’s guardian angel. Maybe Eleanor defeated Michael (???) and is now the welcome wagon (with Jason) for recently deceased Jimmy/Gretchen. Maybe Edgar is meeting Michael for the first time and getting a weird feeling about him. Maybe Chidi is now the judge for TGP and has to decide who to let in after a bus crash.
Harlots/Galavant (TV)
Historical humor possibilities abound here! Set it in Mildly Medieval England or Firmly 18th Century depressing England! Maybe Galavant finds himself at a brothel and Isabella must save him. Maybe Charlotte escapes and ends up in whatever time-travel scenario, and buddies up with Sid to go to trade school. Maybe Gal and the Jester take Richard to Margaret’s to make his sexual debut and he takes Fanny for scones, or plays cards with Harriet. Maybe Magdelena decides to take up running a bawdy house for reasons, and she asks the Welles for help. Maybe Isabella is nervous about her first time and asks for advice from Nancy. Listen, this could go super funny or a little dark, and I would love any part of it.
Superstore/Selfie (TV)
This might require a little handwaving, so feel free to make the Cloud 9 employees low-paid hotel workers, or make Kinderkare an advertising firm hired to promote the rebuilt store. Maybe Henry/Eliza are on a work trip and she needs Midol. Maybe Eliza and Jonah follow each other on the socmeds. Maybe Sam just discovered where poor people shop, and he’s fascinated by the prices. Maybe Charmonique is back at handmodeling and is doing an on-location shoot. Maybe Charlie and Mateo went to school together and Mateo’s super jealous of his job.
