Oh, this makes me so sad--no one is getting what they want. Except maybe Chris, and I'm not counting him. I'm not a Leslie/Ann shipper, but this late Season 2 altverse makes sense.

I was actually wondering if Ben might be bi in your story--him going to the Bulge by himself, combined with his frustration about Ann dating Chris, and Chris always looking for Ben on the bench. Is there a Ben/Chris back story?

Would it make you feel better if I told you Chris is only happy because he's been dating Ann for ten minutes, and he's in for a world of frustration soon? Dating someone who wants to be dating someone else is a difficult thing. And Ann's not exactly going to be an awesome girlfriend.

Glad to see that the hints worked out. I didn't want it to be a complete surprise that Ben was interested in Chris, especially given that he's also into Leslie. As for the bench, it's not that they make out there every night, but more along the lines of going to the water fountain on the other side of the school because it's right by your crush's locker.

I'm debating. I have a lot of headcanon for this story: what happened before and what happens next. I had a lot of Ann/Leslie backstory that I couldn't really fit in to the twelve hour timeframe, where and when Ann's crush developed, that kind of thing. And headcanon for Ben that I couldn't put in the story because that reveal at the end wouldn't work. I have a lot of headcanon for how the next few months go; as I said, Ann's not great at dating. Some secrets, but not all the secrets, get revealed. There's a government joke I want to put in there. But the ending's still a little blurry in my mind. So.... maybe.

Excellent! I'm super pleased you enjoyed it, since you prompted it way back in January and I couldn't quite let the idea go. I thought it was such an intriguing idea, and once I figured out the timeline I knew I had to do it. Because I didn't want to write some sort of Ann-as-sex-toy L/B relationshippy thing; it just wasn't something I wanted to do. But I really liked the idea of exploring sex on precarious relationships, so this totally worked for me.

As you know, I love when Ann gets assertive, and when Ben is confused (poor Ben, he's so very confused). So, yay! And Ben with the beers, trying to leave his own motel room. Poor confused Ben.

First of all, I thought you might like to know that the first time I tried commenting on this fic my computer crashed and froze and I had to force shut it down. So, congrats on that. ; )

Second, I just love the wistful, darker tone of this. I thought it might evolve into another threesome with Leslie/Ben/Chris, or end with a weird, sad foursome. It's not something I can EVER see playing out on a show as happy as Parks (and I really don't think I would like to see it), but you wrote it so well. In a darker Pawnee timeline this scenario would make perfect sense.

I'm sorry for killing your computer. But I'm glad you liked the story, since it was so much darker than I usually go. I love the happiness of the show, and I tend to write that. But this one time, I went dark.
