[True Tears Ch. 2: First Meeting]

I let Draco and Anni teach. I, the director, sat in my office pondering as I usually did. Students can graduate after two semesters, but apparently some need more than two. The day after the first semester, Anni confronted me in my office in the middle of one of my ponderings. I also met... HER on that day.

"Hey, Princy," she addressed me with her usual disrespectful nickname.

"What." She disrespected me so much; I gave up trying to repair her brain.
Anni was quite short for a demon. She was 7 feet tall while other female demons were usually 8 feet tall. Her horns stood straight up on her head, ugh. She had pure white hair and dark red skin. Her tail had a triangular shape at the end, again like a stereotypical demon. Her claws were shorter than mine but more curved like talons. Her eyes were yellow with red irises. Her ears were bigger and her teeth smaller than mine. She had an alternate personality back then compared to her personality today.

"One student did real well," she said in a bored tone.

"How well?"

"So well I'm here asking you ta let her skip the second semester."

I blinked in astonishment. Not a lot of Hell creatures had a fast learning brain (I was one of those few). "Who is it?" I asked as I glanced at her with interest.

"Oh, her parents didn't name her."

"I see." I paused to deliberate my choices. "Let me see her grades."

"Here." She handed me a file labeled "Unnamed #4". I deduced that other students weren't named at birth as well.

I flipped through to her test/quizzes results- all perfect. All of her homework and projects had perfect points as well. The girl seemed to be a star student. It interested me greatly. "Let her graduate." I slammed her file shut.

"Yessa." Anni nodded at me and left after that.

I frowned and raised a brow. Usually, Anni would cause some sort of discord after talking with anyone. I tried to ignore it, but I couldn't help but wonder, “What. Did. She. Do.” I stood up and looked over my desk and realized what went missing right away- she somehow took away the chairs I used for conferences in front of my desk.

I felt a vein pulse on my temple. My blood boiled and my tail twitched. She took my chair right under my nose, damn it! Of course I felt mad! I bolted out my office and ran down the many halls in the building. How ironic since I was the one that insisted on a no-running-in-hallways rule.

Determination to retrieve my stolen chair made me lose my concentration on my surroundings. I turned a corner not noticing that someone was there and slammed right into a female demon. A surprised, serenading voice rang through my ears.

"Oh shoot!"

We both plummeted to the floor. It felt like my thought engines ran out of control. Once I gained back my concentration, I looked up and saw a beautiful female demon bowing and apologizing to me. I couldn't make out her words for I had yet to have a full grasp on my mind after the collision. I examined her while she talked.

She was at least a foot shorter than me, about 9 feet tall. She had pale skin like me. Long black hair fell to her shoulders. Two horns with spikes coming out of them grew out slightly at the sides of her heads instead of right on top. Her canines stuck out more like fangs in her row of sharp dagger teeth. Her long tail had a crescent shape at the end, like a smile. Her claws were not as long as mine but still sharp. Her ears were like mine, not too big and not too small. Her eyes were black like mine (another similarity once again) but with red irises and snake like pupils, a rare gene in demons.

This girl MUST have countless suitors!

"D-director..?"

Her soft, timid voice snapped me out of my trance. Oh what a voice she had! I hastily conjured up a reply to this enchanting girl.

"Forgive me," I said while standing up with, I believe, charming eloquence. "I seemed to have forgotten my own rule of no running down hallways." I chuckled at her.

She nodded and averted my gaze with a shy look on her face. Attractive and timid? I had quite a liking to this demon.

"What is your name?" I asked more softly with a small smile on my lips.

"U-unnamed number four," she replied with a shaky, timid voice.

Unnamed number four? The one I just reviewed about to graduate the school early? I knew then that she had intelligence as well.

What a jewel!

I smiled at her then. "You are the one to graduate, then? Congratulations!"

She seemed shocked for she was not yet informed of this. "I-I'm graduating? EARLY?"

"Yes, Anni jut discussed it with me." Then I remembered, Anni stole my chair. Anni held less importance than the girl, though. I didn't bolt off as I usually would when determined to catch Anni.

"Did mistress Anni take something from you..? You look upset, Director..." she said to me still in a soft voice.

"Ah, yes." I smiled. "How did you guess, young one?"

"My father is Forneus. He taught me many languages, including the language of facial expressions.”

Ah, Forneus: One of the Great Marquis of Hell, ruler of twenty-nine legions of demons, holds knowledge in Rhetoric and languages, and a lover of humans.

"So faces have a language? Haha!" I liked this girl a lot in only a few minutes. She had an attractive air about her. "Don't call me Director, okay? You're no longer a student. Call me..." I frowned. "Well, I don't have a name..."

She giggled softly making a snake-like hissing noise. So amusing... "Shoot." She smiled timidly at me. "Can I call you that?"

I blinked in surprise. "Shoot?"

She nodded. "That was the first thing I said when we bumped, ‘Oh shoot!' remember?"

I grinned. "Alright." The grin must've frightened her, for she started to look away from my eyes again with a rosy tinge on her cheeks. "Perhaps I'll call you-"

Students started strolling down the halls towards our direction. Their disruptive sounds of mingling students interrupted my train of thought. I noticed some giving the girl beside me looks of envy and hate as I looked upon them. Now why would they disdain this sweet demon? I decided to dig into their minds telepathically and eavesdrop on their thoughts, a skill I learned from father. Some envied the girl, some hated her because of their envy, and some took advantage of her kindness. I glanced back at her. I could tell that she didn't favor the others as well. Some demons are just too dumb and cruel.

"Mistress Anni is in her classroom, by the way, sir..."

Her voice just brightens me! The feeling of anger evaporated for a bit when I heard her. A bit, though. I was still angered that the others would hurt her. "Shoot, remember?" I smiled kindly once again at her. "Anyways, you don't need to be here, miss, so you may go home."

"Well..."

She paused for quite a bit. I was shocked. Did she have no home? "Didn't you say your father was Forneus?"

"Exactly, he spends most of his days on Earth and visits me seldomly. I don't really have a home..." Her voice faded as she replied to me. Oh how I pitied the girl!

"Then, where do you go to after school everyday?"

"My latest home recently collapsed, as many homes do except for homes of powerful demons."

Probably because of lesser demons causing mayhem as always…

"Live with me," I told her in a flat tone. Oh how I hated the violent lower ranked demons! This girl should be a high ranked demon, but her father favored the humans way too much.

"Huh?!" She looked at me baffled. My, she was the sweetest demon ever!

The halls became silent again. "The other students," I said in a soft voice. "They bother you, don't they?" I leaned down towards her, causing her to blush even more and bite her bottom lip. Back then, I thought I've accidentally scared her and stood up straight again. Now, looking back at that, perhaps she felt embarrassed that I was leaning down closer to her?

She nodded and looked away.

"And some rowdy demons destroyed your last home. Come stay with me, then. I'll protect you." I paused then corrected myself. "I want to protect you."

"I don't want t-"

I knew what she would’ve said: “I don’t want to be a burden.” I was too determined to have her back down. I interrupted her with a chuckle. "My, you are the kindest demon in all of Hell! Don't worry, now. No one would harm you with me. After all... My father is Satan."

Again she looked at me in shock. Then fear wrote itself on her face. "Lord Satan?!"

And again I chuckled. "Does that bother you? Trust me!"

She hesitated a bit. She then replied, "All right..." She opened her mind barrier for me, allowing me to transfer the data of where I lived. See, we demons have mind barriers to protect our thoughts from other demons. Powerful demons and their direct descendants though can break through them like me. We can't break through other powerful demons' mind barriers, though.
She nodded at me letting me know she knew where I resided. Then we parted.

And so was our first meeting.
