Zen Toro. Hands down the best sushi I've ever had in Davis. It's also pretty modern, so there are a lot of off-beat (read: western style) sushies. Their garlic role is fantastic, stay away from the Palate On Fire- that's the dish that finally ended my search for Hottest Food In Davis a few years ago. My mouth still tasted like burning after a 2 hour class, and I was able to pinpoint the little hellion's exact location in my digestive tract for the entire duration. I haven't brought up the gumption to eat it again, and it's been almost two years.

I was sad when Zen Toro closed their downtown Sac restaurant and moved to Davis. The owner is a cousin of a friend of mine.

They really do sushi well.

We ended up going to Zen Toro, and it was very good. The service was good, the food tasty and reasonably priced.
