So I never posted about this (in fact I'm not sure I ever have), but every year I take part in the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival, primarily in Musical Theatre, where I kick some serious ass and yet never win. This year I was in the Senior division. I also did not win! But the girl who did couldn't go to Provincials, so two weeks ago they called to ask if I could go in her place.
And I did.
And I won.
WHOOOOOOOOOP.
It's seriously difficult to explain how much this means to me. I love music. I love musical theatre, and I love to do it. But the world being what it is, I am pretty much too fat to play any character under the age of fourty (with the exception of Tracey Turnblad) and I've sort of resigned myself to the fact that if I want to be in musicals, I'm going to have to wait a number of years.
But this... is seriously so encouraging, I just feel incincible now. Not to mention I get to put it on my resume! And... I'd like to thank the Academy-
