But I don't think anyone cares, so whatevs.
Anyway I got (almost) caught up with a bunch of shounen manga today, so here are my thoughts. Warning for total ridiculousness. Really I'm just posting this for lack of interesting things to say.
Naruto 383-386: Aaaaaand now we know the secret of the Uchiha! Actually, that wasn't a total let down, and I'm almost surprised about that. (I do have a certain fondness for things that involve loss of eyeballs.) In any case the important part isn't the dramatic reveals, it's what's going to happen next. ...Man this series totally rocks.
Also Jiraiya died. That's sad. But we all knew it was going to happen sooner or later. Farewell, dirty old man. May you be met in the afterlife with gifts of pornography and alchohol.
One Piece 480-487: This arc (and the previous one) has adressed one of the few problems I have had with One Piece, that being the dearth of hilariously-designed ugly women. Last time we had the Train Conducter lady, and now there's Lola! I <3 Lola, and I <3 that she and Nami became friends and Nami gave her treasure. Go crazy pirate ladies!
I also... um, Bones' backstory makes me really sad. Possibly because I am a huge fan of whales.
I have NEVER wanted to slash any members of the Straw Hat crew with each other. All the couples I think are sort of cute (Usopp and Kaya, ...Franky and Iceberg) involve someone outside the gang. Just because the totally hardcore NAKAMA message tends to drown out any UST that might exist.
Having said that, if I were to have a very tiny preferance, it would be for Zoro/Luffy. And this is why!
Fullmetal Alchemist 72-75: I've decided that for me, the primary difference between the anime and manga can be encapsulated by saying that in the manga, I don't want to couple anybody. Even Ed and Al. (Well, actually I *did* like Ling/Ed, but that is clearly not going to happen now, so.)
Instead, I really, genuinely enjoy the mysteries, the talk about alchemy, the ciphers (*love* Roy and Hawkeye's coded conversation), the intricate plots, the way characters appear and reappear at the strangest times...
And it's so characteristic of the series that I wasn't even paying attention to those two generic Chimera of Kimbley's (the Electric brothers or something?) and all of a sudden they get humanized through conversation with Al. It's the little things like that that make this series so special.
In summary, PLEASE DON'T LET AL DIE
Bleach 307-309: Bleach has gotten boring. I hate these fight scenes, don't really care about the Espada, although adult Nell was sort of worth it. But... unlike a number of other series, I would never buy Bleach. And I am this close to ditching the series unless Kira or Soi Fong come back at some point.
Zaraki does make things significantly better, though, what with his face-eating grin.
