New anime I have watched.

Even with all the other stuff in my life, I still find time to talk about geeky stuff. Typical.

Princess Princess: This series cannot be intended for anyone other than yaoi fans, and yet it's not yaoi. Instead, it's a character-based genderqueer study about boy's school transvestism. With designs by Atsuko Nakajima. Someone ought to get a medal for this.

No, I mean that with all seriousness, it's pretty good. I'm shocked more people haven't watched this. Don't be turned off by the subject matter! It's really quite fascinating!

Simoun: I can't believe they're already making anime based on manga running in Yuri Hime. This should be good once they actually explain all the sci-fi for us viewers who are too tired to put two and two together. ...Lesbians! In a not-particularly-exploitive fashion! Nuff said.

Gakuen Heaven: What you see is exactly what you get. No surprises, no worries, just twenty-five minutes of good, old-fashioned reverse harem BL. Likable. Relaxing. Like cotton candy for the soul.

Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya: I can't say anything about this show that everyone else hasn't said already, so I'll just say it's really funny and you guys should all see it.

Ouran Host Club: Actually a little similar to Gakuen Heaven, but will probably be far more popular because of the neat art, and because shoujo by nature will always be taken more seriously than BL. This is more interesting simply because of my intense love for the cute, cute, apparently gender-blind heroine.

To be honest I think I like the way this series does cross-dressing better than the way Hana-Kimi does it. Probably because this series seems to use it as an excuse for mild !lesbianism. ...I could write a whole paper on my issues with female crossdressing (see mainly: Mulan) but I won't.

XXXholic: I feel like this is the sort of series that is far more likable in black and white, or at least in the colour palette the illustrations use. It is also far more obvious how freakish the character designs are when they are moving their grotesquely long limbs. Ah well. Faithful adaptation in spirit if not timeframe. Certainly can't be worse than Tsubasa. BURN!

Anyway, a fun selection. Awright.
