Mini-rant about Hulu, Hercules, and B-Movie send-ups

I think I'm sort of addicted to Hulu. You know those commercials on TV, where celebrities become aliens who lick up people's brain mush? Yeah, that same service.

The thing is, it's kind of flawed. I really want to watch "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys", but the only thing that comes up on Hulu (or any other "watch on computer" site that isn't ITunes, actually) is "Young Hercules". Okay, it's Ryan Gosling right before he got hot, and Dean O'Gorman is a cutie, so it's not like I don't watch the YH episodes. Still, it's not what I'm looking for. Right characters, wrong age, wrong format, wrong target market. (and did I mention Kevin Smith? No, not this one, the dead one.)

Beggars can't be choosers and all, but since Hulu broadcasts NBC shows, and NBC shows are usually produced by Universal (including ones that star "Young Hercules" show creator Sam Rami's brother, Ted ("Seaquest: DSV", "H:tLJ"), why does Hulu not broadcast the show of which "Xena" (also not shown) and "Young Hercules" are derivative?

Just a bit of rambly pondering about my favorite show post-SeaQuest and pre-high school. And as an aside, it was really distracting to see Kevin Sorbo as Ryan's dad in "The O.C.", since I was like "But why is Hercules in contemporary California?" every five seconds.

Congratulations, Mr. Sorbo. There are worse roles to be remembered as.

Another aside: if you see Bitch Slap, look for Michael Hurst, Shakespearean-trained actor/ (television/stage) director/ former Iolaus. Better yet, go to www.michaelhurst.co.nz and watch the "Bitch Slap 101" teaser. Hurst acts as announcer/host for the segment, and for some reason, it's hilarious to watch a classically trained actor say words like "Bitch slap", "tits" and "ass" with his accent... It's also a selling point for me, I'm afraid.
