and it has been twenty years

Dec 29, 2008 22:40

Twenty, ne. My family went out of town Saturday night and are supposed to come back sometime tonight. It's kind of weird being home alone; especially during vacation. Today I cleaned and did the dishes and watched Utahime again. And then Gabby and I went out for dinner at Cafe Bahia, where I had a gift certificate I won at last year's work party. There we ate three courses, (crabcake and fennel shrimp for the appetizer, filet mignon for the entree, and key lime pie for dessert), and ran up a $110 tab :x But the gift certificate was for dinner for two, including gratuity, so we only paid an extra $10 tip. Heeheeee~

And then I came home and found trash in my mailbox and eggs thrown in my front yard. Are you kidding me? It's only me at home right now and it is my birthday, so the logical conclusion is that someone was targeting me. Who? No idea, but I'm kind of upset.  I came home with a pretty high mood and that kind of killed it. But I cleaned it all up and right now Gabby and I are watching Anastasia over heare, so it's all okay.

Twenty years. How did I get here? How did I grow? I was born in 1988 in Springfield, Massachusetts, and then...

1992 (~4 years old)

c. 1993 (~5 years) with my two sisters

1994 (~6 years)

1996 (~8 years)

'
1998 (~10 years, which would be half my life, ne)

c. 2000 (11 years) with our cousin

2001 (12 years) with my cousin/"twin" Elaine

2002 (13 years)

2003 (14 years)

2005 (16 years)

2007 (18 years)

And with that, we are brought to today. Were I Japanese, I would have reached adulthood, ne.

I'm not a perfect or great person, but I'll continue working hard and trying my best every day. These twenty years have taught me a lot, and while I can't put my past regrets to rest with my teenage years, I'll look to the future. I may be living away from home for the first time if/when I get into university this fall, so I'll do my best to grow up. At the same time, I may not be a teenager anymore, but I'll continue to love my teddy bear and still sleep with him at night. I'll grow up, but that's who I am.
