ed_84 for the
brittaanniethon. The prompt was Abed interacting with Britta and Annie, with some of his thoughts on their dynamic.
This was largely inspired by my recent viewing of Supergirl and
how both Annie and Britta could play Linda Lee and Supergirl, respectively. I also wanted to write a fic with some Britta/Annie fighting that didn't end up in some cliched mud wrestling situation (that's happened TWICE on the show now). And I wanted Annie and Britta to be in an Abed movie.
I've never posted a fic my own journal before. Um, woo?
"Abed, what the hell are you doing?"
"I thought that would be rather obvious, Britta. I'm filming you."
Britta slowly turned towards him, her nose only a centimeter away from the lens. "Are you filming me or my skin cells?"
Across from her, Annie giggled a bit. They were the only three in the study room. Britta stood up straight in her seat, pleased that she was able to make someone laugh (and not just at the way she said bahgul. Baahgull. BAHGU--whatever, she was done obsessing about it).
Abed turned around and focused the camera on Annie. She looked a bit flustered now that the attention was on her and not Britta's skin cells, but she still managed a small wave. Abed swung the camera back and forth between the pair before putting it down. He tilted his head thoughtfully.
Britta and Annie stared at him, but he didn't move. Annie turned towards Britta and mouthed 'Is he okay?' Britta just shrugged.
Suddenly, Abed slapped his hand down on the table. Hard. Britta jumped. Annie let out a small shriek.
Abed looked up at them. "Sorry. Still can't do it quite like Jeff can." He stared at his hand, then turned towards Jeff's empty seat, as if all the table slapping answers were locked in there somewhere.
Britta cleared her throat. "Are you gonna tell us why you slapped the table?"
Abed looked away from Jeff's chair and snapped his fingers. "Right. I'm doing a new movie. Starring you two. I'll have your call sheets ready for you by lunch. Pre-production starts tomorrow, 8 a.m. Filming starts at noon. Good? Good." Abed stood up and gathered his things. "Can't stay for study group. Lots of work to do."
Britta and Annie opened their mouths to protest, but before they could say anything, Abed cut them off. "You both want to be cool. Laid back. Hip. Right?"
The girls shut their mouths.
"Then I'll see you at noon tomorrow." Abed had just reached the study room door when Britta called after him.
"Wait. What are we going to be in?"
Abed stopped. He turned around slowly, dramatically. "It's going to be called..."
The Adventures of Super Britta and Annie Lee

"Abed, I've never even seen Supergirl."
"It's okay. All you have to do is follow my direction."
Annie sighed, and turned towards Britta. "Have you seen it, Britta?"
Britta didn't hear Annie. She was too busy tugging at the bottom of her red Supergirl miniskirt, trying to make it longer. Annie rolled her eyes. As if she didn't wear short skirts, like, every day. She turned back towards Abed. He was busy setting up the camera. They were behind the library to avoid the crowds, but there were still a few people that passed by. They gave Britta weird stares. Annie was glad that she was only wearing a conservative private school uniform; her skirt fell mid-calf.
"But Abed, I don't even know who I'm supposed to be!"
Abed finished setting up his camera. "You're Linda Lee, Supergirl's alter ego. Actually, 'Annie Lee' in this production."
Britta looked up from her skirt. "So who does that make me?"
"Super Britta."
Annie thought Britta would complain about that name, but she actually seemed to...preen. Annie crossed her arms and tried not to pout. Why did Britta get to be super?
"Anyway." Abed went behind his camera. "Britta, crouch behind this bench. Annie, I want you to walk in front of the camera, pretend you hear someone in the distance calling out for help, then duck behind the bench. Britta, once she's behind the bench, you jump out. Okay, places!"
Britta ducked behind the bench. Annie positioned herself just outside the camera"s frame.
"Okay...action!" Abed yelled.
Annie walked in front of the camera. After a few steps, she stopped and looked around. "I hear someone in danger," she said flatly. Then she ducked behind the bench. Britta stepped out. "I'm Super Britta," she said just as flatly. Then she walked off camera.
"Cut, cut, cut!" Abed looked up from the camera's viewfinder. "Actresses, we need a meeting." He motioned for Annie and Britta to stand next to him.
Abed put a hand on each of their shoulders. "That...was terrible."
Annie opened her mouth to protest, but Britta beat her to it. "Well maybe I would've been more inspired if Annie could act a little bit better!"
Annie gasped. "You can't blame my terrible acting for your terrible acting!"
Britta shrugged Abed's hand off her shoulder and crossed her arms. "I just did."
Annie huffed. "Oh, yeah?" She whirled around to face Abed. "Roll it!"
Abed got back behind the camera and Britta and Annie took their places.
"Okay...action!"
Annie walked in front of the camera. A few steps in, she stopped and cupped a hand around one ear. "What's that I hear? Someone in danger? This looks like a job for...!" Annie ducked behind the bench, while Britta jumped over it, standing on the seat. Britta pointed a finger towards the sky. "Super Britta! Away!" She jumped off the bench and off camera.
"Okay, cut! That was much better, Annie."
Annie stood up and dusted her skirt off while Britta walked back towards them. Annie turned and gave Britta a smug smile. Britta just hmphed and looked away.

Filming for Super Britta and Annie Lee was pretty demanding. Almost all of Britta's free time was dedicated to this project.
That didn't bother her at all. Britta had no problems working on a film for Abed. But she did have a problem with Annie. Since the first day of filming, it felt like she was locked in some sort of secret one up contest. Ugh, it figured. Annie was so young. It was just natural for her to be competitive. What was Britta supposed to do? It wasn't like there was a moral high road she could take to not compete. She had to compete--or Annie would win.
And Britta would not lose to some teenage former cheerleader. She was Super Britta after all.
When Britta arrived in full Supergirl gear that afternoon on set--behind the library--she noticed that Abed was talking to Leonard. And that Leonard was wearing a bright red leotard with a black cape. Annie was sitting on the grass a few feet away, in full Annie Lee costume. She plucked a blade of grass and put it between her fingers, then brought it up to her mouth and blew, trying to make it whistle. Britta rolled her eyes. So young. Besides, the grass that grew on campus was way too small and narrow to get any sound out of it. An older, wiser, person would've known that.
Britta plopped down in the grass next to Annie. "Hey. What's with Catsuit Leonard?"
"He's our super villain." Annie dropped her blade of grass.
Abed walked over to them. "Hey guys. Alright Britta, this scene is all about you."
Britta perked up. She noticed that Annie slumped down a bit. Ha!
"What do I need to do, Abed?"
"You're going to be battling your arch nemesis, Selena, who will be played by Leonard."
"Isn't Selena a girl's name?"
"Yes. Anyway, we'll do the actual fighting bit later, but right now we're going to be shooting the part where Leonard confronts you with your biggest weakness."
Britta looked intrigued. This was a great opportunity to show off her superior acting skills. "Is it kryptonite?"
"Nope." Abed ran back to his camera, picked up a paper bag and ran back towards them. He took a plain bagel out of the bag.
"Bahgulls? Bahgulls are my biggest weakness?"
"Not just bagels. But the fact that you can't pronounce 'bagel'."
Annie rolled around on the grass and laughed. Britta glared at her, her hands clenched at her sides.
"Fine. Let's do this."
Britta and Annie followed Abed back to his camera. Annie stood behind Abed as he started filming; Britta could see out of the corner of her eye that she was trying not to laugh.
Abed pointed at Britta. "And...action!"
Britta put her hands on her hips. "I have defeated you, Selena! Now give up your powers or I will banish you to the Phantom Zone!"
Leonard sneered and swept his cape over his shoulder. "I'm not finished yet, Super Britta! Take...this!"
He held a bagel out in front of him.
Britta laughed. "You think you can defeat me with a simple...a simple..." Britta swallowed. "Baaaygul?"
Annie gasped. Abed looked up from the viewfinder, surprised. Leonard just looked confused.
Britta tilted her head back and laughed. "Ha-HA! You think I would fall victim so easily, Selena? Then you greatly underestimate my powers!” Britta pushed Leonard aside and walked off frame. She turned around and looked at Abed.
Abed was looking back and forth between his camera and the scene in front of him. "Britta...that was INCREDIBLE."
Britta beamed. Annie gasped again. "But Abed, she totally didn't do it the way you said to!"
Abed nodded. "I know. She made it better."
Annie huffed and stormed away. Britta rolled back and forth on the balls of her feet, still smiling.

It was the last week of filming and the one up war with Britta raged on. Annie only had a few chances left to prove that she was better than Britta.
Luckily, Annie had the perfect opportunity. Selena had split Annie Lee and Super Britta into two separate people and they were filming the final showdown between the two. Abed wouldn't tell them the final outcome. He said the mystery would give their performances more reality.
Annie didn't need to know the ending. She knew she would win. Britta may be super, but she was Annie Lee. Annie Lee kept the secret. Annie Lee did better in school. Annie Lee had a boyfriend that loved her and not Super Britta. There was no way she would lose.
They were filming in the parking lot, at night. Annie faced Britta. They both glared at each other, waiting for Abed to call action so they could start "fighting".
Abed called action. Annie lunged towards Britta, pushing her shoulders. Britta did the same. Annie moved them around so that Britta's back was to the camera. Ha! Now her face wouldn"t even be in the shot.
But Britta quickly figured out what Annie was doing. She whirled them around so that Annie's back was to the camera. Annie gasped and whirled them back around. Britta did the same. They kept twirling, over and over and over. Annie was starting to get dizzy.
And then Britta did the unthinkable: she pulled Annie's hair.
She pulled Annie's hair. Annie didn't care if it was on accident or on purpose: Britta had crossed a line.
Annie pulled Britta's hair. Britta yelped and stepped back, cradling her hair in her hands. The two girls sized each other up. Annie pushed Britta. Britta pushed her back. They kept pushing each other. Finally, Annie pushed Britta as hard as she could and Britta stumbled, tripped on her cape and fell down.
Annie jumped up and down. "Ha! I win! Annie Lee wins!"
Britta scrambled to her feet. "No! Cut it, Abed! That’s not what's supposed to happen! Super Britta is supposed to win. Annie pushed me too hard."
"Oh, boo-hoo! Annie Lee is the one who wins, Britta. Super Britta totally sucks."
“Annie Lee sucks! She's just a stupid schoolgirl!"
"She keeps the secret! Super Britta can't pronounce 'bagel'!"
"I PROVED THAT SHE CAN!"
"That was only one time! She couldn"t do it other times! Annie Lee is better!"
"Super Britta is better!"
"You're stupid!"
"You're stupid!"
Annie and Britta both whirled around and looked at Abed.
"Who wins, Abed? It's Super Britta, right?"
"Whatever! It's so Annie Lee."
They both looked at Abed expectantly.
Abed took a deep breath. “Nobody won. Super Britta and Annie Lee both realized that despite being a schoolgirl and a superhero, they weren't that different. They were both smart, socially conscious women who cared a lot about their friends."
Annie and Britta stared at Abed, then looked at each other.
"Oh," they said.
Annie shuffled her feet awkwardly. "You know, Britta...I thought it was really cool when you said 'bagel'."
Britta smiled. "Thanks, Annie. That means a lot coming from a great actress like you."
Annie beamed. She turned back to Abed.
"So if neither of them wins, how does the story end?"

Abed was screening The Adventures of Super Britta and Annie Lee for the study group. They were all squeezed into Abed's dorm room, watching the action play out on Abed's tiny TV.
They had just reached the part where Super Britta and Annie Lee were having their epic parking lot fight. Abed left in the hair pulling and pushing, which made Britta cringe, but Annie was holding her hand for support so it wasn't too bad.
And then it cut to the new footage. Annie Lee pushed Super Britta hard, and she fell over. Annie Lee pulled back her fist to strike the finishing blow when Super Britta held her hand up.
"Wait, Annie Lee!"
Annie Lee stopped. "Why? Going to beg for mercy? Well, I'm not giving it!" She moved forward.
"No, Annie Lee!" Super Britta stood up, and caught Annie Lee's fist with her hand. "We shouldn't fight! Don't you see? This is all part of Selena's plan! She wants us to destroy each other!"
Annie Lee snarled at Super Britta for a minute before her words sunk in. She dropped her attack stance. "You...you're right. I don't want to destroy you."
"Neither do I. And think of all the good we can do together! With your book smarts..."
"And your power over bagels..."
"We could be a great team!" they said in unison. They pressed their fists together.
"Wonder Twins Powers…activate!" they said. The scene cut to Annie and Britta in matching purple leotards with sparkly purple headbands.
"To save the day!" They both pumped their fists in the air. The scene freeze framed, and then the words 'The End' appeared on the screen.
Abed got up to turn on the lights. Britta looked over at Annie, who was smiling at her excitedly.
"Well," Annie said. "What did you think?"
Troy shouted out "AWESOME" the same time Shirley said it was nice. Troy's shout woke up Pierce, who had slept during the whole movie. Abed looked at Annie and Britta proudly.
Jeff crossed his arms. "Well, for starters, that ending sucked."
Annie glared at Jeff. She opened her mouth to say something, but Britta tapped her shoulder. Annie turned back around. Britta held out her fist. Smiling, Annie pressed her fist against hers.
"Wonder Twins Powers...activate!" they said.
"Form of...'You Are'!” Annie said.
"Form of...'A Douche'!” Britta replied.
They both turned towards Jeff and said: "You are a douche!"
Jeff was stunned into silence.
Britta gave Annie a high five.
The End
But Britta and Annie will be back in...
