So I know I haven't updated in a while, but I don't have too much to say. My thesis is progressing nicely and I start scanning people in exactly 1 week. Woo! Putting people in magnets!! My other classes are ok as well, but I'm just really enthralled with my research. The fact that it's WoW-based and that my advisor and grad student overseers are *awesome* helps a lot, but overall it's just a lot of fun and really interesting.
In other news, DartCon was held this weekend and I have played SO many freaking games. In total, I think I've been in 4 RPGs this weekend. Out of those, 2 were run by our visiting game designer, Jared Sorensen. That man kicks so much ass. Also, ROFL @ the fact that pretty much every girl in the house was either interested in or actively trying to sleep with him.
I also got a really cool opportunity to help play-test Jared's new game while he was up visiting. He's calling the unfinished product "Project Donut" and I was sworn to secrecy, but I am allowed to say what I thought so here it is: AWESOME. It definitely will fare better as a multi-session campaign, but even as a one-shot, I had a blast. Character creation was fantastic and very involved and actual gameplay was weird, but in a good way. I'm also psyched to get a shout-out for playtesting when the game is released. :D Jared himself is an *amazing* GM. All of the time I spent with him over the weekend was very pleasant and amusing. The guy's got super quick-wit and just a touch of cocky arrogance, which I happen to find wicked hot in men. So yeah. Eventful weekend. The remainder of my term is going to be filled with lots of work, but hopefully also more fun. I hope to see many many alums up next week for Green Key!
