Learn how to make this icon coloring:
Icon tutorial 2:
Written in PS7, but should be
pretty translatable in most steps.
Step 1: Open
your image and crop it to 100x100px. I
am using a picture of the nothing-short-of-gorgeous,
James McAvoy.
(Is it just me being weird, or does he look an itsy bit
like Orland Bloom?)
Step 2: Duplicate
your base and set to Screen 100%. Merge
the two layers.
Step 3:
Now duplicate this image and set your blending options to
Soft Light 100%. Merge layers
Step 4: Now,
Jame's handsome face is starting to look blurry, so Sharpen
your image once. Merge Layers
Step 5:
Now create a fill layer using this color (#C3B2FB) and
set to Soft Light 100%. Merge
Layers
Step 6:
Use another fill layer with this color (#81BBF7) and set
to Color Burn 100%. Merge Layers
Step 7: One
last fill layer (I promis!) with this (#FF0000) and set
to Screen 25%. Merge Layers
Step 8:
You can add text, brushes, do other stuff to it, and
you're finished!
--Okies, so here's my disclaimer sort of thing. Always
remember: You may have to tweak the opacities of
the fill layers depending upon the image you are using.
It just so happens that mine was of fairly good quality
and slightly dark -- not a hard thing to fix. I am always
here for any questions you might have about this tut.
Don't follow to the mark, play around with it a little
bit and make it your own thing. Hope this tutorial was
helpful to you! --
