So, I'm not sure how many of you know this, but I name my computers.
The first one I named was Hatter, so done because my background at the time was of Hatter from Syfy's Alice, and the name stuck even when I change the background. Well, he was five years old and I decided he was ready to retire, so on Black Friday I went out and bought a shiny new HP. Hatter was a Toshiba. I named the HP Prius because it had a striking resemblance to my mother's new car.
Prius was a complete failure. Each time I went on the internet, everything would freeze and crash and I couldn't do anything at all. Any programs I put on her didn't work and it aggravated me to no end so the computer got shut off and sat in a corner where I didn't have to look at it. And I kept using Hatter. Well, two years later, Hatter is now seven years old and barely holding up. Well, I say barely, but he's actually doing rather well. He's a bit slow, the battery is completely shot to the point where the slightest bump to the cord had the computer shutting off, and the screen was going out. However, he was able to take everything I threw at him and keep coming back for more.
Still, I realized that he wasn't going to last much longer and I desperately needed a new computer. So, despite my having no funds, I bought another new computer this Black Friday; this time a new Toshiba. I've hence named him Danny in the hopes that he, like his namesake Danny Walker, will persevere through all trials and work hard and work well for as long as he lives. So far, he's taken very well to what I've given him. Granted, that's about 300 pictures and however many documents I have (which is probably a high number, I just didn't check). There are still a few programs I need to transfer from Hatter and Prius to get him fully set up, but right now I'm feeling pretty good.
And why am I feeling pretty good? Because I made a decision to use only Danny, if I could help it. When I bought Prius, I didn't use her for two months because Hatter was doing so well, and by the time I realized she was an overpriced paper weight, there was nothing I could do about it. So I've been using solely Danny, unless I needed the others for transfer purposes. That being said, I couldn't write ANYTHING because Danny didn't have a document writing program. At all.
Yesterday, I finally got my Microsoft Office back, and (hopefully) soon I will have Scrivener transferred over too. That means I can finally write something! I've been staring at my computer blankly for days, done checking mail and my friend's status messages and doing anything to distract myself, and now, finally, I can do something creative again!
I'll get to work on my fics asap so I can post something for all you lovely people soon. Anyone got an idea for a Christmas fic (for anything I've written for before)?

Now. Merlin.
Somehow I got 3 episodes behind. Ok, so I know how, but the point still stands that I was almost a month behind on this amazing show. Yesterday I watched all 3 in a row.
First was "Lancelot Du Lac". Um, yea. I'm not usually one to pick at the show for diverting from legend, but when Gwen was torn between Lance and Arthur and Morgana and Agravain were talking about how Gwen actually did love Arthur, my thoughts were along the lines of 'but Gwen didn't really love Arthur in the legends. She didn't.' Other than that, I was pretty ok with the episode.
I loved how Merlin reacted when Arthur announced he was going to ask Gwen to marry him, and the whole episode how he seemed to feel about that. It's like...he's known Arthur loved Gwen, knew that it was his destiny to marry her, but it's still shocking that it's really happening and he can't decide if he's happy about it or not. Which, obviously, my fandom mind screams is because he's in love with Arthur himself and it hurts and on and on. As I'm not a fan of Gwen (at least, not much after season 1), I wasn't all that torn up when the episode ended. I did like how she tried to explain it, though I would've written it a bit different myself. But only a slight bit.
Next was "A Herald of the New Age." I liked the twist here, at the end, with Arthur. (gosh being vague is complicating things) And I loved Merlin in the final scene. No chance of a hug, then? Oh well. Wait! Playful!Arthur? :D Really made me smile. I also like that Arthur seemed to take Merlin serious when Merlin said the shrine was cursed.
There was the part after the initial attack where Merlin and Agravain were both trying to convince Arthur they were right that I had the tiniest irk moment. It happened right when Arthur said "Well, Merlin thinks-" and I was like "Oh no. You never say 'Merlin thinks' in conversation with nobles! You know what they think of him!" and I wanted to whack the dear King upside his royal head. Then Agravain proved me right. But, the episode continued, everything worked out regardless, and it wasn't that big of a deal. Just probably more reason for Agravain to hate Merlin, but I don't care because I'm still waiting for Merlin to finally turn around and beat the living snot out of the bastard.
Finally came "The Hunter's Heart." Let me just say that maybe it means something when I feel the relationship between Arthur and Mithian was more potent and believable than the relationship between Arthur and Gwen. Seriously. I was rooting for her the whole time. I was like 'Heck yes! It's like Elaine if she'd been normal her whole life!' but prettier and better. I was so sure she actually liked Merlin for a bit there, and then she told him she really liked Arthur and I was like 'aw.' But then I was like 'oh well. Merlin's soul mate is Arthur anyway and he'd never love another, so it'd never work out even if she had liked him.'
And did anyone else think Arthur and Gwen had spinning rings? Because I did. And I really think they do. And did they even have those kinds of rings back then?
All in all, let me say, I still don't like Gwen. Though Bradley is doing a better job at showing Arthur's care for Gwen. However, it seems like he's (Arthur) always upset over Gwen and rarely happy. This does not seem like a healthy relationship. Just saying.
AND ARTHUR BETTER FIND OUT ABOUT THE MAGIC IN THE FINALE. PLEASE WRITERS DO IT DO IT DO IT! IT NEEDS TO HAPPEN. IT NEEDED TO HAPPEN YESTERDAY!

In other news, I'm broke. Quite literally. I can't even afford my school books for next semester. Luckily, I'm at my mom's for the holidays and I don't have to pay for food or anything while I'm here. Next semester will start, I'll get my financial aid from the school, and immediately have to spend it on rent, other bills, books, and paying my sister back the money she lent me to buy Danny.
-sigh-
But things will get better.
Here's hoping I can get hired with my lousy hours of availability in the Spring. Wish me luck!
