Garden happiness

Paul the gardner has just left after finishing the last of the jobs in my garden. It's taken months, because he is in demand, but he's made a beautiful job of it. He plus his assistant spent two full days weeding, tidying and pruning everything last September. Today he filled in the gaps with lots of flowering shrubs, as well as a climbing rose and a scented, summer-flowering jasmine. In the meantime, I'd worked on a total remake of the front patch myself, because I wasn't sure when he'd be back and got impatient, and was thrilled when he complimented me on the result and said it was very similar to what he had been thinking to do.

He only charged me £450 for the lot, and that includes more than £100 of plants he put in today. I did tell him he was cheating himself, but that was what he wanted. If anyone in Nottingham is looking for a gardener, Paul Guyll from the Dirty Wellies Gardening Co is definitely recommended!

Now I'm waiting for Meddyg to arrive late tonight, and we will leave tomorrow for a weekend in Wales. I shall have a mixed seafood paella or risotto (according to my inspiration when I start cooking) waiting for him, with either a cava or chardonnay, whichever he prefers; both are in the fridge.
