Being sick sucked. I don't think I've been that sick for years, since the swine flu epidemic at the office.

So a few years ago, at Namco, there was an outbreak of swine flu. I sat right next to the point of exposure (though he didn't know he was the origin at first). I ended up getting the flu and ended up going to the emergency room. Nope, didn't have swine flu, though they said I was definitely exposed to it. I had the regular flu, dubbed the piglet flu, fullforce with a 103° fever. I was delirious. Thank goodness Jei was able to take me to the hospital.

Since then I haven't really been sick. Until this week. Whatever it was took out 3/4 of the house. Man it kicked my ass. Even worse, the infection got under the artificial septum in my nose. I'm pretty sure the bug's getting its ass kicked. I have a pretty strong immune system. That being said, I was down for a week. A freaking week.

And I worked straight through it taking naps during the day. I guess I really can program in my sleep (or an "altered" state of mind, as my coworkers lovingly put it). Not as many distractions. No overthinking things. Obviously this means I need to distract my mind more so I can focus. (No, it doesn't make sense, and I don't think there's any way it can. It just works that way. Somehow.) I tried it out this morning, and the louder it is, the better I work. I've always listened to music, but I guess I still need louder music to think. I listened to Rammstein when programming at Namco. Everyone knew they had to tap me on the shoulder to get my attention because I was blaring metal music while programming. Who thought loud metal and loud opera would be so beneficial?
