GDC

so. gdc was epic. i got there pretty early and got to browse around, watching tech demos and playing games on the expo floor. i went out with devry's outreach director for lunch at the metreon. oh my the sandwiches were yummy! :3

and so, after some more moseying, i went for the presentation. it was really weird for a moment, sitting there in front of all those people. there were about 300 people in the audience, at least. students, my tech lead, namco's pr person, and several devry faculty.

but then it started. i knew the subjects and i got to tell what i had learned about the interviewing process. it was fun to tell the stories about my interview with namco and getting the acceptance call during otakon and shouting like a fangirl.

once the canned questions and the q&a was done (and the panel as a whole was), there was just a mass of people coming to ask questions. it was really awesome to be able to answer questions for people and help them get into the industry. it's not a very easy one to get into, after all.

but it was so cool. people came up to me and said it was really awesome to hear someone like me completely geek out about math and physics as if it were perfectly normal. and several people came up and said they were inspired. it's really awesome. it's one of those situations where there's someone there to say "why yes, it's actually possible to do this."

and apparently devry wants me to speak about my experience on campus and speak to women who want to get into the industry. it's like i'm suddenly famous or something XD

namco, gdc
