Interview

so the trek to namco wasn't the easiest one this morning. the first bus was 10 minutes late, but i caught the transfers on time easily and arrived early to a stack of paperwork to fill out. and then i got a comprehensive technical test, seeing how much i knew. (it was actually rather easy and involved a whole lot of bit-shifting questions.)

and then the lead engineer and two other engineers took me out to lunch. to señor jalapeños. there was so much food i couldn't finish it but it was so tasty! and i got to chat with some of the engineers, we exchanged questions and such, and i really liked what they talked about within the company. and they're serious gamers. and practically half the engineers speak some foreign language, many speak japanese.

and then when i returned, i got some very interesting interview questions. of course, the usual "what do you know about namco?" "where do you see yourself in 5 years?" "What are your greatest strengths?" and the ever troublesome "what would you consider some of your weaknesses?". but i got some interesting ones. such as building a data structure right there for them on paper, explaining game loops, describing how to turn katamari into an online computer game, and other very interesting questions.

i was done 5 hours later. that had to be the longest interview i've ever had, but it was the most interesting and entertaining. i should know next week if they're interested in me :3

the commute would be rather long (1.5 hrs o_o) but the VTA isn't a bad ride (unlike crappy AC). The AC bus i took home was falling apart! the window kept flipping open whenever the bus turned and the seats are hard plastic. the VTA always smells clean, has a/c, and has comfy cushioned seats. wtf AC.
