I get so overwhelmed sometimes with my issues that it isn't enough to just write about them in my journal. I thought I would be able to see the whole picture more clearly if it was all laid out...clearly. So I made a mind map. I think I invented this but I'm not sure.
To make a mind map:
-get a posterboard or tape pieces of paper together. It has to be big, and all on one side/page.
-put big issues in the corners or around the outside.
---write every little thought or worry that's still relevent to the issue. write in point form, or in little bubbles, or whatever. Write small.
---if you can see a common theme or overriding issue for the whole map, write it in the middle and circle it.
---if you can see how two issues are interconnected, write a point about how they are connected and draw arrows connecting them.
It's amazing for perspective. It is a map of your mind updated to the minute, and it outlines what is most important to you right now.
(what part of the map takes up the most space? Did you write any bigger for some points?)
It may be a starting point to thinking about solutions, and give you an idea about how you should prioritize them.
