valentine's day, and love

It has seemed a long time, a long, long time, since I have cried at a movie, and it has been even longer since I have loved Romeo or Juliet. Perhaps it's my hormones at the moment, or perhaps I'm feeling sentimental, but tonight when I watched Shakespeare in Love with Emma, I cried deep in the chest. This sadness that goes beyond all grief, of two lovers so beloved that they tell stories of hope and reunion to each other. It makes me wish for far more than I want, for both myself and for those two characters in the film. And the smile is stained with tears, and it is life and love and beauty.
