Fuji TV has just announced their Monday drama (‘Getsu 9′) for the upcoming summer season and it’s going to star Oguri Shun and Ishihara Satomi in a modern Japanese version of ‘Pretty Woman‘ called ‘Rich Man, Poor Woman‘.
Oguri plays a billionaire and manager of a major IT company. Similar to the life of Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, he had become a billionaire when his website, which started out only as a hobby, gradually started to gain more and more popularity. However, due to his lack of management skills and despicable personality, people often label him as swindler and otaku*.
Ishihara, on the other hand, plays a very talented young woman who is about to graduate from the Department of Science at Tokyo University. However, due to the current scarcity of employment, she hasn’t yet received any positive feedback from any of the applications she sent out. She is veering towards leading a poor life in her future. One day, the pair happen to run into each other, which doesn’t end really well at first due to the disparity in their personalities, but they soon start to feel attracted to each other.
The rest of the main cast includes Aibu Saki as an up-and-coming female chef and Iura Arata (formerly known under his stage name ARATA) as her older brother and co-manager of the IT company, who together complete the love square. The midsummer evening romance ‘Rich Man, Poor Woman’ is scheduled to air its first episode in July.
