Hi~

I'm new here, and I bring screencaps!

This is caps from the first act of the stage show of "Sekai no Chuushin de, Ai wo Sakebu", where Megumi plays the tragic heroine, Hirose Aki.

Year of Production: 2005
Cast
Matsumoto Sakutaro - Tanaka Koutaro
Hirose Aki - Sato Megumi

Aki arrives to see the boy she admires run by her, and the most popular girl in school manages to talk to him.

this might seem confusing, but the most popular girl gets asked out by one of the boys in school; she refuses, and a scuffle breaks out between the boys and the girls.

Our hero, Matsumoto Sakutaro arrives, on the way to kendo practice.

Aki insists Saku help in their situation. Saku looks troubled.

The boys tell Saku he has nothing to do with it and to step away, and he agrees!

Aki is appalled by his behaviour, she grabs his shinai and confronts the boys herself...

Saku wants his shinai back; Aki refuses, and the scene ends.

Saku narrates the story along the way. The next time they get an opportunity to know each other, the class has decided to put up the play Romeo and Juliet for the School Festival.

They visit Yumiko, the most popular girl in school. Due to play Juliet, she is unfortunately unable to do now as she has injured her leg.

The class's teacher, Seto-sensei, decides that a replacement must be found for Yumiko...
She suggests Aki, and promises her that she will get the boy Aki admires to play Romeo.

The girls wait with bated breath as he runs past...

But he refuses sensei's request and continues on his way.

Aki feels terribly cheated.... but then Seto-sensei spots this lone ranger sitting behind them...

"Matsumoto-kun, won't you play Romeo?"

"EHHHH?"

Aki doesn't look too excited about it either.

Saku visits his grandpa one night- he explains about the play and that rehearsals have not been going well, so he has come to ask for advice. He annouces to his grandpa that Aki is here as well- she is welcomed into the house.

Saku's grandpa suggests a reading; let's try it here! he says.

We see a very obvious problem; Saku reads without emotion!

Saku's grandfather decides to tell them a story about his greatest love; Saku is upset because he had heard this story many times before. Aki listens, enraptured, and Saku's grandfather says he has asked Saku many many times for one huge favour; he would like to get a little of the ashes of the woman he loved but could not marry. Saku has always refused, but after Aki's persuasion, the three go on a merry party to steal the ashes (Sorry, no caps, it was truly too lengthy here!)

Saku's grandfather leaves the ashes with Saku; he asks for her ashes to be mixed with his own after he dies. Aki asks Saku if he would keep her ashes and have it mixed with him after he dies, if they were lovers.

Saku says yes.

Aki comes from a single parent home, without a mother, so she has to take care of the family. She does not have time for proper rehearsals, so she and Saku grab every spare minute they have for practice.

A classmate thinks it is too much of Aki to always skip practice; she suggests that Yumiko play Juliet, as her leg will heal in time for the play. Aki stands her ground, she has worked hard for it, and she wants to be Juliet.

She puts on a brave face, and hands her "communication tape" to Saku, before she runs out of practice. Saku calls the class together for practice.

On the way home, Seto-sensei comforts a very upset Aki, and tells her it will all turn out for the best.

Everyone is a bundle of nerves on performance day; Yumiko comes forward and wishes Saku the best. Saku holds a shinai for added confidence.

Seto-sensei asks if everyone is ready, and she brings out Juliet...

Who is a vision, really. (Megumi is so very pretty here!)

Even Saku is stunned; he only manages a "kirei", and Seto-sensei share a secret smile with Aki.

The class goes to get ready for the performance, but Aki stops Saku, wanting to reassure herself that she looks okay. Saku tells her they will be fine, and makes to leave for the stage first...

But Aki suddenly collapses, and Saku runs out to her, calling her name frantically...

Act One ends here! I shall try to do Act Two tomorrow, but it is a very very long act...

I hope you enjoyed the pictures!
