hmm...

Sooooooo... For some ungodly reason my drawer came up $20 short. I really need to stop letting team members collect out of my drawer. Apparently, while I've been gone they've been having problems with money coming up missing. The only possible way I could have done something to cause it is to come up short is if it was in my deposit, which is highly unlikely since I counted the money I pulled from that drawer twice, the deposit once, and the safe after that. I didn't take any big bills, so it couldn't have gone out as extra change to someone, either. To me this means one of two things, a shortchanger got one of my team members while I was off the line, or someone is stealing, the latter being the more likely scenario.

The prospect of someone stealing it bothers me, because everyone there while that drawer was out is a good team member, and I trusted them; though, I have learned just because you trust someone, doesn't mean you should trust them. Let's just say in the past we had someone who had stolen money who had been working at White Castle about a year, he was extremely well liked, a very hard worker, and had even moved up to Instructor and was running a shift.

If I believed in such things I'd say it was a bad omen, a team member who had stolen money in the past had the nerve to come through our drive through. I heard Melissa ask someone, "Didn't you use to work here?" and then after he replied I heard her say, "Yeah, I thought so." I looked in the car and it was him. I'm sorry, but if I stole from my workplace, or any other place for that matter, I would never show my face in there again.

So I was thinking earlier today I think it would be fun to write about all the "markers", so to speak, of my life. I have this theory that people have certain events that mark a new period of their life. It's a lot like history, in that we can put all the most important parts in a time line. If I think of a less important event that happened back in the day, I'll try to place it somewhere between two of these events.

I'm not listing any of the birthdays or graduation or 9-11 or anything like that. Those are too obvious, I just want to list the things that are personal markers, not cultural ones.

--When my brother was born. I was around 2 years and 10 months old and that's my earliest memory.
--When I moved to Michigan from Minnesota. It was before kindergarten.
--When my sister was born. I was 8. I cut her umbilical cord, which was cool because it was kind of random. I asked the doctors if I could, and they said it was cool so long as my dad was cool with it.
--When I got really into the Beatles. It was my tween years, I guess I was in 6th grade or so. They were my first favorite band since the New Kids on the Block. Ringo Starr was also my first concert since the NKOTB concert that was my first concert.
--When I started going to public school in 8th grade. Before I went to Catholic schools which were smaller and I had been going to school with pretty much all the same people since kindergarten. I also lost touch with all my friends from that time.
--When I first started listening to pop radio in 1997. It may seem insignificant, but this was when I first started really getting into music. Before that the only "modern" band I had ever liked was New Kids On the Block. My parents always listened to oldies stations when we were kids. I will always love oldies, though. Generally oldies stations are about the only ones I will listen to since most of the other ones suck pretty consistently.
--When I had my paper route. I had it a few years and I think I was 15 when I first got it. It was my first job.
--When Dave and I started dating on the intarwebz. He was my first boyfriend and we are still together.
--When I worked at Burger King. This was after my paper route. I worked there for a year, up until I moved to St. Louis.
--Moving to St. Louis.
--My job at White Castle. I started in 2003. I still work there. Having worked there 5 years, I usually mark things that happened at White Castle based on who the GM was: Cheryl, Eldonna, Lonna, Kathy, Rose, and now Greta. Yeah, White Castle likes moving GMs around.
--Whenever Dave and I moved into our apartment 3 years ago.
--When I started school Fall 2006.

I'm out.
