ok so this is really history nerdy of me but i wrote my final essay on Victorian literature. something very interesting came up, there was such a rejection of irrationality that the fans of Sherlock Holmes and Watson in some part insisted that they were real people, while they insisted that Sir. Arthur Conan Doyle was too ridiculous to be real.
