In memory of Stan Williams

Aug 19, 2011 11:07

I am shocked and saddened to see this message in my inbox from CGP. Stan will be missed, he was a great guy and always fun to play and hang out with.

Hello - It's with heartfelt sadness that I have to tell you that my father, Stan Williams, passed away Sunday evening 8/14. He was visiting me in Hickory NC when he had extremely harsh abdominal pain and was admitted to the hospital. Unfortunately, exploratory surgery found a great deal and it became a much more intense surgery. My dad never regained consciousness and died just a few hours later. It was a very quick passing.

My dad was all about quality of life and helping others. I'm not going to have a memorial service (his wish), but will be sending out a `memorial flier'. If friends feel inclined to contribute in his memory, I would like them to do so by contributing to ASAP (the afterschool program), Blankenburg Elementary school and/or the Chester County Library.

I know my dad thoroughly enjoyed his years on the Scrabble circuit. He spent a great deal of time and energy playing and practicing. If you have suggestions on who could benefit from all of his Scrabble books and word cards, please let me know.

I can see a few Scrabble email groups in his inbox, but I chose to send this note to those who he has emailed recently.

Feel free to email me.

Thank you!
