So we arrived in Nashville around 4:00, and we went to Phonoluxe Records and Grimey's where I practiced great self-restraint but still ended up spending way more money than I should have. I got:
Dave Matthews Band "Stand Up"
Snow Patrol "When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up"
The Garden State soundtrack
David Gray "White Ladder"
Sufjan Stevens "Illinois"
Joshua Radin "We Were Here"
Then we had to go and meet this dude at some restaurant because he had out tickets. Ashley bought them from him off ebay. We ate there, the place was called Bailey's. Ashley left her phone number for our cute waiter, and he actually called. She didn't answer, though.
The concert was FREAKIN' AWESOME. I didn't like the opening band, but Sufjan.... oh my gosh. I want him and his musical genius.
For Valerie, who was wondering how he got all those instruments in live: There were 14 people on the stage at all times. Eight people playing strings, 2 people playing brass, a drummer, a back-up singer (who was the singer from the opening band), a guy who played various instruments and wore a funny hat, and Sufjan himself.
I love strings so much. They are awesome. Yes. Sufjan came back out for an encore and played "To Be Alone With You" without any microphones or amplification of any kind. It was so perfect. Tater and I were having a cow.
I have to be leaving for class in 6 hours, so I suppose I will be getting to bed. I didn't bring my camera, apologies to all, I know you are sorely disappointed.
