Recent "flopsie"

Hey everyone remember that time we were doing cheerupemo flopsies for Sandy and BAMF prompted me this awesome photo and my flopsie turned into a ficbomb and resulted in a new verse?

Yeah, so do I.

This is said "flopsie." It is a new verse that we (Sandy came up with it) are calling "Fifty Shades of Blue."  Um... I will be actually plotting shit out later, but in the meantime have this (now properly edited for your reading pleasure).

Name: Fifty Shades of Blue
Characters: Amy, Zoisite, Mamoru, mentions of Luna, Kunzite and Ace --- basically everyone will probably appear at some damn point because you know I love having ALL the characters!
Rating: I will say PG-13 because reasons
A/N: What is my life? What even is this? I WILL BE HARASSING CERTAIN PEOPLE *coughBAMFcough* for legal mumbojumbo at some point. I think I know where I'll go with this. We'll SEE!

It had been a good day.

Had.

Emphasis on the had.

That day had been Amaris Duquette's first day as a paralegal at the firm of Shields, Ashton, and Eckert. She had woken early to make sure she was presentable in her new suit -- a dark navy skirt and jacket coupled with modest pumps and a crisp white blouse-- it was very simple, but stylish and she thought she looked quite nice in it, if she did say so herself.

She had eaten a small meal -- oatmeal with some fresh blueberries and cup of a coffee -- made sure she had her lunch and all the paperwork needed for her first day, then headed for work. The journey was easy enough, nothing much of note. Walking through the doors of the grand building, she felt confident in her abilities and hopeful for the journey to come.

But now she was stuck in a back alley, and her supervisor was probably dead.

When Amaris arrived on the appointed floor her boss, one of the elusive partners, was not present, but his sectary -- a kind older woman, with keen eyes and a slight British accent -- was there to show her around. She learned that the partners were working on a large case, and she was about to get thrown into the middle of it.

The secretary -- Mrs. Edison-- apologized, but was sure she would do a ‘bang up job of it.’ Amaris wasn’t so sure, but she knew she would do her best.

Amaris was shown to what would be her desk after a tour of the floor, and she quickly disposed of her things before following Mrs. Edison down the hall to a large conference room. Knocking gently, the woman waited a moment before peeking her head inside the room. Amaris was afforded a glimpse of the room which appeared to full of people, the long table was packed full of what she assumed were all the lawyers, while others lined the walls.

“Mr. Shields? The paralegal is here.”

“Excellent, send her in!”

“Go on dear, you’ll do fine!” Amaris gave the older woman a strained smile before shuffling into the room, her notepad clutched to her chest.

“Hello, I’m Amaris Duquette,” she addressed the room.

“Very good, I’m Mr. Shields.” Amaris glanced toward the head of a table. The man that had spoken seemed young to be partner, but she had heard enough about him not to be too shocked. He offered a kind smile, meeting her eyes a moment, before glancing around the room.

“Everyone this is Ms. Duquette. Ms. Duquette this everyone. We’ll work on proper introductions later, and I’m sorry to throw you into it; you’ll just have to learn as you go! Now,” he clapped his hands, looking up and down the table. “Where were we?”

Amaris was then immersed in the details of the case, trying her best to keep up with all the rapid information getting thrown around. It was with a slight delay she realized they were trying the case of an alleged crime boss, which had been the top news story for the last three weeks.

“They’re not using the testimony because the moron decided to lie about a couple small details. So now one key witness is out. I would throttle him if I could!” The person that spoke was a blond woman in a smart brown suit, her hair pulled back in an elegant chignon. Her green eyes were bright, and infinitely annoyed, as she pretended to strangle the air.

“Calm down, Zora.”

“I’ll calm down when I feel like. Jones was my contact, now he’s screwed everything up!”

“Not everything, what about the other one you mentioned?” Mr. Shields looked at the woman expectantly.

“He’s scared shitless, and I don’t really blame him. Look what happened to Marks.”

“We don’t know for sure what happened to Marks.”

The blond woman looked up, her face completely blank as she locked eyes with her boss. “You and I both know exactly what happened to Marks. Everyone here knows. Even the new girl, right?” She swung around and fixed Amaris with pleasant stare. A little too pleasant, actually, if Amaris hadn’t known better she would’ve thought the woman had given her a once over.

“I, um… I assume he died?”

“Yes, good. Do you suppose why he might’ve died? Keep in mind he was an otherwise healthy forty year old man.”

Gulping, Amaris glanced around the room nervously before turning back to the woman. “Was he murdered?” she whispered.

“SEE! I told you she knew!”

“Stop leading the new hires, Zora.” Mr. Shields sighed. “Have you spoken with the other contact recently?”

“No, I’m waiting for him to call me. He wanted to lay low after he got the news about Marks.”

“Alri--” Mr. Shields stopped when a ringing filled the room. “If that’s not him, I’m going to very angry, Zora.”

“It’s him! Everyone be quiet!” Pulling the phone from her brief case, she jumped out of her chair and moved away from the majority of people, stopping next to Amaris by the door with her backed turned on the room.

“Ace?” She hissed into the phone. Being so close Amaris could just make out the voice on the other end.

“Yeah, been awhile, but I’m still kicking.”

“Good to hear.”

“So I’ve been thinking. I don’t wanna to keep hiding like this, all the fear. I’ll tell you whatever you want to know.”

“Even better to hear. When and where do you want to meet?” She shifted the phone to her other ear, and turned toward Amaris, motioning for her notepad and pen. Hastily she wrote down an address, tearing the paper before handing the pad back, her fingers brushing Amaris’ when she gave back the pen.

“See you then.” She hung up and whirled around to face her colleagues with a wide smile. “I’m meeting him tonight at eight.”

“Okay, you’re taking Kaleb.” Mr. Shields nodded toward a man to his right with a shock of pale blond hair. Amaris thought it seemed prudent to take someone who obviously could handle himself. The man was muscular... and large. His frame practically folded over in order to fit in the chair next to Mr. Shields.

“Fine, I’ll play the weak little woman.” She gave a long suffering sigh.

“It has nothing to do with that, I would just like you to take someone, and Kaleb is trained. Former military makes me feel better.”

“Okay, just so you can sleep tonight, boss.”

“Thank you.” He smiled gratefully, slowly rising. “Alright, I think that’s enough for today. I want everyone back here first thing in the morning so we can hear Zora’s news.”

Dismissed, the lawyers, paralegals, and assistants started filing out. Amaris slowly trailed along, meaning to head back toward her desk until she was called in by Mr. Shields, but a slim arm linked through hers and started pulling her away from the others.

Looking up, she found herself looking in bright, mischievous green eyes. Zora was pulling her toward a flight of stairs, and Amaris was highly confused.

“I… um…?”

“Come on, we’re meeting my contact.”

“But I thought that was later… and why me?” She looked incredulously at the other woman, who only smiled a little wider.

“That’s just what I told them. I’m perfectly capable of handling this myself. I’m taking you along because you seem intelligent and capable. I like that. And you’re one of the few new hires I’ve seen who actually came prepared with a notepad. I like that, too. Now come on, I’ll drive!”

Amaris, unsure what else to do, let herself be guided down to the parking garage, loaded in to a sleek black corvette, and driven downtown to lord knew where. The drive was spent with Zora asking questions, simple things, and responding in kind; Amaris learned Zora had grown up in Boston, loved Italian food, and was extremely fond of music.

They finally reached their destination, a seemingly random alley behind an old warehouse in a very questionable part of town. Amaris felt a wave of nervousness as she stepped out of the car, half expecting some gang member to step out from the shadows and mug her.

“Ace? Are you here?”

“I said to come alone.”

“It’s fine, she’s cool. I promise.” Zora spoke in placating tones as she moved further into the alley.

“Dammit, Zora. It’s fucking scary enough meeting you here and you bring in people I don’t kno--” the voice was cut short as there was a loud popping noise, the sound of rattling trash cans and a feminine scream.

Amaris had no idea what was happening as a dark figure rushed past her while she ducked for cover. She thought there should be more shots, or yells, or something. Slowly, she rose to her feet and glanced around.

The alley appeared empty save Zora’s car, herself… and Zora laying on the ground! Oh, god! She’d been shot! Racing forward, Amaris had no idea what to do!

She needed a cell phone!

That was in the car!

She raced back to the vehicle, but a groan stopped her in her tracks. No, she should check to see if Zora was bleeding! She raced back toward the prone woman, skidding to a halt. Bending down, she tried to see if there was any blood or anything, but she was a little squeamish about it, so she stayed close to Zora’s feet.

“A-are you alright?” She asked, touching the woman’s shoe. She was greeted with another groan. Taking a deep breath, Amaris leaned forward just a little bit to peer over Zora’s knees. It appeared the blond had been dazed, but was slowly coming around, one hand at her temple and the other splayed across her stomach.

“Are you alright?” Amaris squeaked again.

“Huh? Yeah. Jackass bowled me over.” She sat up slowly, touching her head. “Cracked my skull against the pavement, but there’s no blood. I think I’m fine.” Zora looked up and meet Amaris’ eyes with a grin. “Pretty good first day, yeah?”

“I don’t know…?”

“Come on! It’s exciting. Better than a stuffy office. Now come on, let’s get some lunch and wait for that idiot Ace to call me back. Or the boss man, I’m sure he’ll have things to say.”

“O-okay?” Amaris stuttered, completely baffled as to what all had just happened.

“Hey, sweetheart?”

“Huh?”

“I can’t get up until you let go of my shoes.”

Glancing down, Amaris realized she was still couched in front of Zora, leaning forward, with her hands firmly planted on the tops of the blonde’s shoes, pinning them in place. “Oh! I’m sorry!” She scrambled to her feet, face flushing for some odd reason.

“It’s perfectly alright. Gave me a couple ideas.” Zara grinned again, “Though they work better in private.”

Amaris flushed redder. “I… uh….”

Zora winked saucily then headed toward the car. “You coming or not?”
