Office Hours, Thursday

This whole office hours thing was annoying. Ronon felt there were more interesting active things to do, like explore the new section of the island.

To keep himself busy, Ronon investigated his desk drawers, intrigued by a box of very sharp pencils.

Soon they'd all be sticking out of the ceiling.

Kaylee didn't have any classes today, but she still didn't know the school as well as she'd like. So, she was wandering around when she peeked into one of the offices and saw the really big fella and his pencils.

"Ain't you worried they're gonna fall on your head later?" she asked curiously.

Ronon looked up from his task and stared at the newcomer. "Keller?" He didn't understand the draw of this place. "You follow Carter or somethin'?"

"...who?" Kaylee asked, confused. "It's Kaylee, not Keller."

"That a nickname?" Ronon cocked his head to the side in confusion.

"Actually yeah," she said cheerfully. "But no one uses m'full name but my mom, and that's when she's mad at me."

"Is Jennifer a bad name?" Ronon had never heard her go by Kaylee before.

"...I guess not?" she said, unsure why he was asking. "I mean, if you like it, ain't that enough?"

Ronon was getting the impression he was dealing with another teen. Even if Keller always sort of looked like a kid. "You a student?"

She nodded. "A junior!"

That was third year, if Ronon remembered right. "Lemme guess. You want to be a doctor."

She made a face. "Ew, me? A medic? I got no aptitude for that stuff, an' don't even like hearin' 'bout it, truth be told. No, I wanna be a mechanic. Already am one, really. Gimme anything that been broke an' I can fix it, pretty much."

"You fix ships, not people?" Ronon blinked. That was an unexpected turn.

"Well, 'ventually. I ain't got my hands on any big ships, but I'd like to!" she said happily.

"Guess some things change," Ronon remarked.
