“Who cares what you are - just enjoy it!”

Name: Elle Alexandra

Age: 25

Sex: F

Hobbies/Talents: photography, writing, art, shopping, reading (lately its been a lot of women's history), teaching

Your pet peeves: ignorance, people who don't listen, excessive pessimism, tardiness (that's my big one)

What’s your career? If your still in school, then say what your dream job is: I'm a college professor in Language and Religion. Basically, I'm a grad student on a teaching sabbatical. I'm not going to say any more because everyone will just collapse in a puddle of drool on their desks and I shan't be responsible for drool-damage.

Favorite things: My cat, Bertie Wooster, chocolate, neo-Victorian fashion, hot pink, coats, Lilly Pulitzer, my collection of Arabic literature, travel, postcards, Orientalist art, my saris, and old family photographs. Having coffee with friends, visiting my best friend in Boston, driving, laughter. Oh, and completely superficially: my bag with Queen Alexandra that I use for class. :D

Any obsessions? I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist, so my obsessions are usually things about time, places, events, details, papers, facts, the intricacies of life. It's exhausting though to try and maintain that kind of existence, sometimes I can pretend to mask self-doubt and now I'm learning to not be such a perfectionist, which is good. Still hard, but I am learning.

How would you describe your personal style? My personal style, I would probably call "Prof Chic." I'm very modest and wear a lot of black and dark colours. I love pearls and diamonds (they have to be faux though or else I'd lose them instantly) and pink lipstick. But I also have my dorky glasses, so I would say that all-in-all my style is classic and in a state of rebellion against the current dresscode in academia (i.e. I don't knit my own underpants). Maybe I'm really "Dork Chic"... hmmm, yeah.

How do you feel about romance or relationships? Right now, I'm a bit more optimistic than I was a year ago... I've become more of a believer in the possibility of fairy tales, but of the more modern sort. I feel like a big chunk of something that was taken away from me in college by a professor has been returned to me, and that pretty dresses, skirts, and putting myself together every day is good for me. It makes me happy. Okay I admit it, I totally cried during the Disney Christmas Day special with the dancing princesses. I am a complete mess. :P

If you could visit one place, where would it be? Argentina. In particular, Buenos Aires to visit the Casa Rosada and the Eva Peron Museum. Although I'm not a huge fan of Evita's politics, I am a huge aficionada of her clothing and sense of style. I just love how there was an age where women, even if they were leaving the house to run next door, always looked so put together and presented a clean, neat front. I don't know, I wish I could master that on a daily basis!

What’s your favorite quote and why? My favourite SaTC quote is from Season 5 at the lovely June wedding. It's perhaps my favourite episode because it embodies so many elements that I love: lilacs, late afternoon, and the company of friends. The quote is this: "Some people are settling down, some people are settling and some people refuse to settle for anything less than butterflies." Just perfect.

But my favorite non-SATC quote is: "And then the day came, when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." - Anais Nin. This quote has been so important to me since the day I quite haphazardly picked it up on a greeting card. I return to it often as I'm struggling with change, with disease (I am recently out of therapy for bulimia) and it's just a quote that gives you strength. It's okay to change, it's okay to move forward and it's okay to let go of what hurts.

With these, put an X next to the ones that pertain to you (and please be honest!):
[x]You are a happy person.
[x]You are on the quiet/shy side.
[x]You are scatter-brained. (I am a complete dingbat. People are amazed that I function in a classroom.)

Anything else we should know? HA! No. My life is pretty day-to-day...blahblahblah, believe me you don't want me to chatter on.
