Sometimes, going to visit the professor makes all the difference...

So I just went to visit my Classical Mythology professor. We have spoken before, via e-mails and quick conversations after class. I had a test about two weeks ago in his class and I worked my butt of studying and trying to do well. When the test came back, I found I had not done nearly as well as I had hoped. I made a 79, with a 8 point curve so my real grade was a 71. I was not excited. Of course, nothing can be done about the objective questions, I simply mixed facts up or didn't know the answers, but the subjective questions are a totally different story. Out a possible 30 points on two short answer questions, I was marked down 14 points. Let it be known, my test was graded by the TA, not the actual professor so he is the one to go visit and he has the authority over my grade. So naturally, I wanted to know what was wrong, what I should have included and didn't, and what I could do to improve. So I told the professor today after class that I would be stopping by his office at 2 to discuss the test and to find out where his office is located within Dodd Hall (it is totally messed by and difficult to find anything there). So after reviewing my answers on the short answer responces, he decided to give me back 9 points out the 14 I had missed in that section. Thus bringing my grade from a 71 to an 80 and with the curve, a 79 to an 88. Needless to say, I did not object and was thrilled to find my grade higher.

I have been determined to make As this semester. All I do anymore is study in my room. My computer literacy class is easy and I am totally done with everything except for one more test on some book material, powerpoint and access. I have detailed my grade in classical mythology above. I made an 89 on both my American History and South Asia religion tests. So I am thinking that if I continue to study hard and do everything I am suppose to, As are within my grasp. I have a paper due in American History on Thursday, a paper due in the Christian Tradition on the 6th of March, a paper in Classical Mythology due on the 7th of March, and a paper due in Religions of South Asia on the 28th of March. I am writing a lot of papers in the next couple of weeks. I am okay with it though, I am really looking forward to writing some excellent papers and hopefully getting my grades up this semester and finishing with a stronger GPA than last semester.

On a lighter and less educational note, my dear friend Andrea is coming to Tallahassee on Saturday! She will be attending the rugby game with me and crashing at my room that evening. She is on her way back to Niceville from Boca and I couldn't be more excited to have her coming here. I cannot wait to show her around and introduce her to my friends. It will be a great break from working on papers, but it shoots my ability to work this weekend to hell. Oh well! See you all around...
