did they forgive us for the atomic bombs only, or for all of the civilian casualties? I don't remember the exact numbers, but I'm pretty sure that we killed more people when we firebombed Tokyo than either of the nuclear attacks.
I think they forgave in a more 'okay we'll accept your fucking idiots and had no idea what this bomb would do, just for the love of god NEVER do anything like that again.'
It's a picture from the BBC's commemorative on the Nagasaki atomic bombing. Most of the other photos were of people, but this one is a contemporary shot showing what the bomb did to the city. (and yes, they're statues)
