So, I watch the movie "The Doors" tonight for the first time, although it's been out for years. At the end it says that Pam Courson (his common-law wife, girlfriend) "supposedly" died. Well this, along with the movie, intrigued me to look her up and find out what happened to her. There were other myths that she died from a heroin overdose, yet she is in the lawsuit against the remaining Doors, so apparently she is still alive. Anyway, the real reason for this post. I'm at the doors official website
See the Doors here browsing, and looking at the bios of the band. When I come upon a virtual tour of Jim's grave. Of course I was intrigued and looked. Then I thought about it, is this not a little odd and morbid. I wasn't surprised considering the cult following the man has even 30 years after death, but still. Is there not something really odd about a society where people are prompted to look at pictures of a man's grave? Makes me wonder. I learned in my Human Ethology class (which basically is the study of the innate characteristics of man) and one of the strongest drives in man is curiosity....I suppose this feeds them all. Curious about Jim Morrison, curious about death, curious about what and why people have covered it in graffiti. I know I'm rambling here, but I decided I'm going to start using my LJ to ponder these odd curiosities of life. I'd love to hear other people's opinions, if they even get this deep, I might be a little off here :)
Also, if anyone knows why the bust of Jim was removed from his grave, I'd love to know...I can't find any info on it.
Done...for now...
