This is what you get after reading a pile of SasuSaku... I didn't really want to read them... It's just that I was /really/ bored and my friend is a total SasuSaku fan and so she basically just bribed me into reading them... Yeah.
Title: After
Genre: Romance/Angst
Rating: PG for slight angst
Pairings: Sasuke x Naruto
Summary: In the end, when it was all over, he became the Hokage.
Warnings: Shounen-ai, in this case SasuNaru. Don't like, don't read. And SasuNaru fans who don't like the idea of Sasuke marrying Sakura should stay away as well.
Disclaimer: Naruto doesn't belong to me. If it does, I would love to change a few things such as Sakura's one-sided love for Sasuke. But if I do own it, I still wouldn't add any shounen-ai to it. Because that's what this is for.
After
In the end, when it was all over, he became the Hokage.
People forgot that he was a traitor. They accepted and admired him as their new leader.
People talked about her too. They thought it was most reasonable that she should be the Hokage's wife. After all, she had been the girl who went through everything with him. She was the girl who had been there right from the beginning as his teammate. She was the girl who had bravely risked her life against the fearsome enemy and sought after him. She was the girl who understood and knew him best, and the girl who had cried when he left the village and wiped her tears away afterwards, with much determination to bring him back no matter what.
No one took into account the boy.
He was still 'the kyuubi guy'. He wasn't even 'the kyuubi guy who helped slaughter the enemy'. He certainly wasn't 'the hero who saved our village', even though he should be. He wasn't particularly upset about this, but he was about the new Hokage and the debate over who should be the Hokage's wife.
He said nothing though. Quietly he watched the Hokage struggle over this matter of marriage. He said nothing even when he did choose the girl.
"You understand, don't you? I'm... I'm the Hokage, the most important person in the village, and people..." The young, black-haired Hokage stopped there. His black eyes seemed to be even darker than usual.
An unsaid 'people don't expect me to marry you' lingered between them.
"I... Of course I understand," the blond replied after a few moments of cold silence. "Uh... Congratulations?" A smile so fake that it would have hurt less to just see the sad expression before.
A forced chuckle that sounded more like a dry cough and which hurt more than the most painful coughing fit he had ever had. "Thanks."
But both of them really didn't understand. They were just doing what they should be doing. What everyone expected them to do.
His voice almost cracked as he answered.
"You're welcome."
