PATHOLOGY PATHOS

“I think you ought to know I’ve been feeling quite dissatisfied with my revenge project lately,” Sasuke remarked morosely, perching on the arm-rest of my chair.

I felt myself caught between the urge to wind my arm around him and pull him closer - and the urge to push him off. See, I was also feeling dissatisfied, increasingly, with the way things were going - but hey, you wouldn’t hear me complaining, would you? I swear to all gods I have ever used, abused and/or sinned against in my manga: this is the last time that I’m dealing with such a wayward, depressive, perpetually moody character!

I had to be better than this, so I just sighed like a paragon of patience that I deemed myself to be and said:

“What’s wrong?”

“I think I’m going insane.”

“You think?” I chortled. “What was your first clue?”

My wife whom I had always suspected of being a secret SasuNaru shipper wasn’t quite pleased with Sasuke’s recent displays of psychopathic behaviour. She would even go as far as rebuke me for the lack of logic concerning his inexhaustible chakra and the employment of overused devises, such as: manic laughter, conceited apprentice attitude, spouting nonsense while accusing others of spouting nonsense, etc. My brother, on the other hand, chose not to comment on the Sasuke situation at all and turned his attention towards the females instead, characterizing their meeting as “wow! endless possibilities here!” I needed no interpreter to know what he was talking about - and no, I was not interested.

I had almost forgotten that Sasuke was here when he suddenly gave voice.

“It’s Naruto,” he said tersely. I flashed him an inquiring glance. “What he said-. It sort of… moved me.”

O-okay… not what I’d expected.

“D’you need a hug?” I offered.

He narrowed his eyes in suspicion and slid off the arm-rest. I took that as a no. Pretty eloquent, eh?

“Apparently madness has different tell-tale signs for everyone,” I smirked. Well, what about that, my sweet avenger?
