Am totally going to be kicking off the plane flight pretending to be Eir (again) and listening to Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground". Anyone else have suggestions for a Japan playlist? The ipod must be filled! :D
Doing Kyoto and Tokyo, mostly - also some brief sojourns to Kinosaki and Koya. :) Suggestions for Osaka would be esp. welcome! (Sorry, going there for a day too, but not sure where to go other than the aquarium).
Surprisingly, I don't remember anything particularly memorable in Osaka. I'm sure there was a nice temple or something, but nothing stands out like it does in Kyoto.
Oh! If you're into tall buildings and observation decks, the Umeda Sky Building was a neat trip!
Osaka Castle, I seem to remember being neat. Dontonburi was colourful at nighttime, but I don't remember there being much to *do*.
If you can fit into your trip (and it's not too late) I do really recommend the trip to Hiroshima & Miyajima. (Miyajima is where the floating torii is, and hiroshima, well...)
Because I have learned it is next to impossible to be overly anxious about flying if during takeoff you are too busy mentally screaming "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOO YEAH!" and various variations therein (this is clearly how I think you handle takeoffs). It actually works. ^^;; I decided awhile ago it was lame I was getting so miserable flying when there are people who really enjoy it. So I just decided to pretend to be one of them when the plane gets going. Which clearly had to be you. ;) SO I WILL BE THINKING OF YOU WHEN I GO (... just about anywhere, apparently).
And with regards to your later question: BOTH.
But nothing about plane crashes. Or car crashes. Or drowning. Or anything along those lines. Happy songs!
Also: RHCP do a pretty good cover of that song. Are you looking for Japan-themed songs or flying-themed songs? OR BOTH?
