It's Storming

It wasn’t raining - it was storming.

Sasuke’s lips pressed together tightly; a grim line that Naruto wanted to rub away harshly with his thumb.

“You’re such a stubborn bastard.”

“Speak for yourself, dobe,” Sasuke snapped, the lines of his body as tense as his clenched jaw. He was so unyielding that Naruto leaned forward unconsciously.

Sasuke leaned back and Naruto clenched his fists desperately, resisting the urge to reach for his lover.

“Why can’t you get it through that thick head of yours? I don’t want to be rescued. I thought we had an arrangement.”

“I saw you last night.”

Sasuke stared at him.

“I saw you in the window, you were -”

Sasuke’s expression clouded. “Fucking you? I was there, Naruto, no need to -”

“You said my name.”

Sasuke paused, and for the first time since Naruto had known him, he looked uncertain. But only for a moment. “No I didn’t.”

“I saw you, Sasuke. You were saying my name, and maybe you never wanted me to know that you cared, but now I do. Besides, if I was just some meaningless fuck, you wouldn’t-”

“Don’t.”

“-keep meeting me. You wouldn’t-”

“Naruto, I’m warning you.”

“-say my name over and over as you fucked me.”

Sasuke just stared at him, lips pressed tightly together again.

“Why do you keep meeting me? Why? Why come back at all?”

“I’m beginning to wonder that same thing, myself,” Sasuke ground out between clenched teeth.

Naruto stared at him for a moment, his blue eyes as clear and fathomless as ever. “I love you, Sasuke.”

“And I think you love me, too.”

When Sasuke turned around and left without saying a word, Naruto couldn’t say that he was surprised.

When he fell back onto the bed, the bed Sasuke had just shared with him, he wasn’t surprised to feel tears on his cheeks.

Lightening flashed, illuminating the dingy room for a moment before a loud clap of thunder followed in its wake. It wasn’t raining anymore, it was storming.
