(no subject)
I've had enough of my rapidly expanding waistline. I've gone up a dress size, which is completely unacceptable and I refuse to tolerate my own laziness! So I'm going to do something about it, and do something good for charity at the same time.
This morning, I signed up for the Breast Cancer Ribbon Walk. It's a 20-mile walk through the Cotswolds on the 10th June. I also have to raise £250 (approximately $450) in sponsorship money. As you can see from the linked webpage, it looks like a gorgeous walk, I just hope it doesn't rain!
So I'm being creative about my sponsorship target. I've approached the Farmer's Market organisation, and we should - fingers crossed - get a stall in a local Farmer's Market on Sunday. 'We' is me and my mum, who may or may not be walking with me. We're baking on an epic scale: fairy cakes, brownies, scones, biscuits, butterfly cakes, lemon drizzle cakes - you name it! I'm looking forward to experimenting with icing, we have one of those fun piping things that makes pretty swirly icing.
Not so much looking forward to writing an essay in a week (it's the holidays but the work doesn't stop!), getting to the gym every day in preparation for this 20-mile mission, actually catching up with some of my home friends and somewhere fitting in all the baking! I get the impression that it's going to be a hell of a busy week!
Oh, and a question for the technically-minded: Do any of you know of a website/service where I can get sponsorship money electronically transmitted online? And, more importantly, does anyone want to sponsor me? E-mail is sastrugi@gmail.com. I will send you a special something in the post to say thank you (no, not a cupcake!).
