Zach was getting use to Risa, fast. No one knew who he was here, except the people he met on the Enterprise. No reporters trying to bother him, no paparazzi following him around trying to get a picture, no fans coming up and asking for pictures or autographs. It was a really, honest, vacation, and in the scope of things he couldn't have been more

Zach let himself drift back into sleep as well, Chris' arms comfortable around him. It was a simple time where neither of them had to worry about anything at all, and thus, didn't.
Maybe half an hour later, Zach woke up again, but chose deliberately not to move. He could spend a little time resting like this, with Chris warm and relaxed against him.

His arms tightened around Zach as he nuzzled his ear. "Hi."

He rumbled low in his chest when Zach stretched, rubbing against the length of him and making Chris snuggle closer against his back. This was something that he would take as a luxury back home, the chance to just have a quiet morning like this with nowhere to go, nothing to say they couldn't just stay right here. He smiled against the warm skin of Zach's neck, leaving a trail of soft kisses wherever he could reach without moving too much. He didn't want to disturb the peaceful, quiet warmth that surrounded them.

Lying still with no other sound but the rustle of the covers or the soft, regular sound of their breathing, Chris found it more and more difficult to justify moving from this spot. Not when being here, having Zach warm and sleepy curled up against him felt so incredibly good.

"Does that mean we can just stay here for today?" Zach murmured, smiling sleepily. How they could manage this when the media had its eyes on them constantly, when their managers would have a fit?

Somewhere in the back of his mind, though, he was reminded of his original plan. His voice was hushed when they broke apart again, still not ready to disturb the quiet but curious and just a little nervous, which was silly when he thought about it. But somehow in taking things slow, they'd still not gotten around to this elementary step. "Want to go out later?"

Hopefully later was much later, because the idea of moving from this pocket of warm seemed like some sort of crime. It was several lazy Saturday mornings rolled into one. There would be nothing like this when they got back to Earth, in 2010, or it would be much more complicated.
"You realize it'll be 2011 soon, back where we are? Twenty-two..." Zach drifted off, trying to remember when the movie happened, information he learned since coming aboard as well, "...sixty, I think, here?"

Staying right here was rapidly becoming more and more attractive an option, though, his eyelids growing heavy as they talked quietly, occasionally punctuating a sentence with a kiss. He could get used to this, Chris thought sleepily, nosing against Zach's jaw.
"Sounds right," Chris replied. "Should be a pretty wild party, New Years' Eve. You think it's as big a deal here?"
Reply
"If it's like anything else we've seen, it will still be a big deal." Maybe they could ask someone next time they spotted someone they knew. "We have that invitation to go over to Kirk and McCoy's soon, we could ask then."

"This place seems to like any excuse to party, so I can't imagine it would be an exception." Chris stifled a yawn, shifting and pulling the covers up a little more. "I bet they'd know," he agreed. "Maybe we can plan something, all together."
Reply
"All together, I'd like that. Just too bad Zoe, Simon, and everyone else can't be here with us." Zach missed bantering with Simon on twitter and getting teasing phone calls from Zoe.
Reply
"Can you imagine Simon here? He'd be into everything." Chris grinned, just imagining their other friends' reactions to being on the Enterprise, meeting their counterparts... which reminded him.
"Did you ever talk to Spock? After you stormed back in that morning, I mean." Chris had only rarely seen Zach that upset, so he knew that whatever had happened, it hadn't been good.

Chris frowned, one hand sliding up to curve against the side of Zach's face, his thumb rubbing over his cheekbone. He hated the idea that they had argued, never mind the fact that the idea of anyone threatening Zach made him see red.
