I understand how you feel. I am also dreading what might happen with House and Cuddy so I think we feel similar, though possibly for different reasons. My reasons are as follows:
1. While I don't believe that there's only one true love for every person, I think there is for House, and it's Stacy. I think TPTB set up their relationship as a defining one for both of them, and if TPTB try to slide Cuddy into the Stacy slot, so to speak, it will cheapen the integrity of House's whole backstory and who, at his core, he is.
2. I have always liked Cuddy, but I haven't liked seeing her acting silly and playing pranks on House this season, and I haven't liked seeing her try to make House into who she wants him to be and not seeing him as he is. If we're to believe they've known each other since college, Cuddy would know better. Also, I just don't find them believable as a couple. I like them as friends who care deeply about one another, but not in a romantic way.
3. There's no reason for romances to be teased between House and both the regular female characters unless the show is throwing away everything that made it great in favor of making it into a soap opera.
I, too, am feeling very disappointed in how things appear to be playing out, BUT I keep reminding myself that I felt this upset in S3 when I learned House and Cameron were going to kiss and that amounted to nothing. I am hoping this will also turn out to be nothing. Hope with me. :-)
