A last minute Christmas greeting and thoughts.

Within my immediate family, we always have our Christmas dinner on Christmas eve and then open our present.  For me, there were not many things that i actually wanted this Christmas. Every time someone would ask me what i wanted, the usual answer would be "whatever you get me is fine, just as long as you thought of me.." unless they do ask me directly, and want an actual answer, then i would provide one...but i would normally answer by the former.

and so, christmas with my immediate family went as usual - early in the morning to clean up the house, help with the cook by noon, then set up the table by 4pm-ish, then finally dinner, and then present.  with my family, i usually get clothes - which i am actually happy with 'cuz i normally wear hand-me-down (it's always nice to have your own stuff once in a while) but this christmas, i was actually surprised with one of my presents.  Although all the presents i received this year were cool (which i am thankful for), there was one present that stood out from the rest, and it was from my eldest sister.  At first, upon trying to open the present, i was a bit hesitant to open it because my eldest sister told everyone to look at me while i opened my present. (to me, i was thinking that it would be a gag christmas gift...like maybe a dirty baby diaper - since i babysit my goddaughter often...just for luaghs and all).  But once i opened it, my jaw dropped....and it was the new I-Pod Nano (yes, with the small video screen).  and WOW.

I must admit that this was unexpected...i mean, i've grown accustomed to my sister's past presents (which were often simple clothes, like socks, pajamas, t-shirts, etc.) but this year...i guess she really got me. i was truly thankful for the present, cuz if you know me, i'm such an electronics/media nerd. i like my mp3 player and all, and yes, i did have my doubts with the apple I-Pods, but i never said i was never interested.  All i said that, if the price was right...then i'd buy it. (good thing i didn't end up getting the shuffle I-Pod - *phew).  And when someone buys it for you, then it's pretty much double the satisfaction.

So back to what i was originally going to talk about...
I guess when it comes to presents and stuff given to me, i've been always appreciative of what is given to me. I do have my sentimental moments - yes, i keep old photos of friends, and yes, i keep old letters and presents that past friends have given me. And when my sister gave that present to me...i was actually shocked, happy, and thankful. For quite some time, i've been watching my goddaughter eversince i started this semester of school. and so, i've been always there to take care of her...and yes, i admit to complaining to my sister for coming home later than what she had said and at other times, bitched at her for always relying on me to take care of her kids (i.e. pick them up at school, help them with homework, and sometimes prepare them food). the usual "mom" duties that come with parenting children, and yes, its gets annoying when people think that my niece and nephew are my own kids. but you know what, lately, i've been alright to answer back and say "oh, i'm just their auntie." And i guess, after all i've been through watching the kids...and especially babysitting Caitlin, my sister Cathy really really wanted to pay me back with all the stuff i've done for her - and for her sweet gesture and thoughtfulness, I AM THANKFUL.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE.
HAVE A JOYFUL HOLIDAY BREAK.
